Greatest Speech in American History (Abe Lincoln's Gettysburg Address)
On November 19, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address on the site of one of the bloodiest and most decisive battles of the Civil War.
Lincoln’s brief address would be remembered as one of the most important speeches in American history.

“You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.” - Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln once said "And in the end, its not the years in your life that count. Its the life in your years." Truely one of the greatest Americans to ever grace this nation.
How fortunate Americans were to have this man as one of it’s sons. Truly, one of the greatest men who ever lived. (from an Australian).
This speech belongs to not only America but also the nations around the globe whose belief is enshrined in democracy, freedom , liberty of individual and sovereignty of nation states as a whole
Words of honor, respect, dignity uttered by a singular human being will echo through the centuries.
Even as a English man this speech makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up what this man did for equality will never be forgotten
This man couldn't be brought into this world without having his name carved into history. Some are really meant to be.
The second greatest speech given was MLK ‘s “ I have a dream “ on the steps of the Lincoln memorial in 1963 .
this speech changed America
We are created equal, now we must learn to treat each other that way.
“Do I not destroy my enemies when I make them my friends?”
“America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”
“Whatever you are, be a good one.”
This man is the embodiment of what American principles, character and America as a whole was about. Not being an American myself, these are the Americans I grew up reading about making me admire and respect the country and it's place in the world. Now for some reason, things feel drastically different with everything.
'And that government of the people, by the people, for the people' Oh those last lines that will be remembered for all eternity.
You know when your old when this makes you cry.
50 years ago I memorized this speech for my 9th grade english class. And to this day I can still recite most of it from memory. Lincoln new that preserving the ground and the dedication of 2 armies meant that if we did not learn then this nation would fail, for me this still holds true ! It is now 2021 and we are at a crossroads again. Are we going to let it fail because we as a people have grown Niaeve and forgotten that it is our country and not your or mine but belongs to all of us. I fear that this nation after such a long history is going to fall to the way side and be forgotten simply because we have forgotten how to work together and stand together again as , One Nation Under God Indivisable With liberty and Justice for All.
Never have so few words said so much!
I was the local Scout Chaplain for many years and had the honor of reading this speech at a Memorial Day Celebration at a local War memorial a few years ago. A group of Amish were putting on a roof across the street and stopped to listen, being visibly moved. These words are so powerful. I hope we are still worthy of them.
"The world will little note , nor long remember what we say here."
