You can see how he wants to be accepted by Carson and felt extreme sadness at thinking he was mad at him. People who never played the game of football will never understand the amount of respect these guys have for each other even if they hated each other's guts on the field.

I keep remembering a story I heard Michael Jordan tell a long time ago about Lawrence Taylor. Both went to North Carolina, and on the weekend there was an outdoor court they used to play basketball on and they were playing. So at some point, LT approached and called next game. Problem was no one wanted to play with Lawrence cause he had earned a rep, he was hyper competitive and played dirty as hell, he'd foul the hell outta anyone, and insist you stayed & played again if he lost, so they told him they were playing just this game then they had to split. So, he says Lawrence stood there staring at everybody intimidating as hell, then he walked over to the goal, & jumped up and pulled the rim & net both down, & said y'all ain't playing no more then you won't be needing the damn goal. So he took it back to his dorm room with him. Mike said we just looked at each other and laughed......

I can confirm this anecdote, as I was there. At the time I was a redshirt senior on the football team, second string placeholder for the kicker. 6'0", 169 lbs and not just an animal in the weight room but a flesh-and-blood inspiration to teammates like LT. Would put up 185 on the bench for 5-6 reps, no problem. Yup. Any event, I had taken an interest in MJ during that time period and was attempting to teach him how to do a fadeaway jumper. He stuck his nose up at me back then but I noticed years later he employed that very move, to the elongation of his HOF career. But, yes, I can confirm this LT-MJ connection, true story.

To have your mentor talk about your greatness holding your shoulder while you can’t speak because of the grief and regret, was one of the most human moments I’ve seen. Someone who has seen your highs and lows standing up for you during your moment of need is a truly human moment of great significance. I think looking back at things Lawrence was a very hurt and wounded person. But he could only express these feelings with anger, and facilitated this anger on the football field to a point of MVP status. It’s crazy that such an incredible athlete could be so vulnerable emotionally. Really shows the human aspect of everything, he’s just a wild person who can’t express energy and emotion verbally, so he does it physically to great applause from unaware onlookers, who don’t understand the true nature of this wild, but human athlete.

The reason LT became emotional, and the real reason behind their falling out is because LT, as great as he was, respected Harry and, on a deep level, needed Harry's approval. When LT was struggling with his demons, he thought that Harry disapproved of him, and that killed LT.

I was a big Patrick Willis fan going back to his days at Ole Miss. I wanted him to be a Steeler to be honest. When he was drafted to the 49ers, I still followed him. With his abilities, I figure he would be part of a team that need a big turn around in a serious way. Willis did his thing and retire for a better future.

U can tell LT has biggest heart!! to basically breakdown in front of his peers. The man has ZERO inhibitions, and that’s why he was the best of all time, in any sport imo. He has had a special life. God given talent, with a devil on your shoulders. People with addiction problems are the toughest, and most sincere people. This man is gold with and without all his faults

This is beautiful everybody at the table made me wish I could play again, I'm 57 yrs old every time I look at this I cry, one player missing bobby bell. Ray Lewis mike singletary willie Lanier Harry Carson an Lawrence Taylor I loved the linebacker table 👌

Probably my favorite one. No egos, just passion for the game and each other. Ray Lewis was a great moderator. So respectful and hardly talked about himself, even though I definitely would liked hearing some of his stories.

That was absolutely touching. I loved the LT and Carson moment. We all know how difficult it has been for Lawrence to get rid of LT and all the demons that come with it, I only hope that he succeeds. As far as Lanier, he goes further back than my generation, so I really don't have a a good grasp of his career, but it is clear that he was the core of a great championship team. Watching Singletary, Carson and Lewis is to look at three of the greatest team captains that ever lived, in all of sports history. Awesome interview and discussion to watch.
