This was my final video for not only my few days away in London but also would turn to be my final video filmed for 2021 which is my 3rd Visit to Stratford station in London first since December 2019 featuring services from Greater Anglia, TFL Rail, C2C, London Underground Central Line and London Overground services
Due to film constraints both the DLR and Jubilee Line could not be filmed for this video
Stratford was opened by the Eastern Counties Railway in 1839 with the North Eastern Railway linking here from Broxbourne a year later
The London, Tilbury and Southend Railway opened from a link at Forest Gate Junction in 1854 with services now run by c2c either when London Fenchurch Street is Closed or all day Weekends mostly used by Shoeburyness services via Laindon.
The Low level platforms now occupied by the DLR from Stratford International date from 1846 which were originally freight lines before passenger services to North Woolwich commenced a year later in 1847.
DLR took over the former North London Line route between Stratford and Canning Town in August 2011 providing services to Beckton or Woolwich Arsenal however due to capacity restraints meant only one route can be done at a time.
London Underground's Central Line extended to Stratford onl December 3rd 1946 which nowadays use platforms 3, 3a and Platform 7 which emerge from tunnel and descend back underground after. Platform 3a was an additional platform added in the Westbound direction in September 2010
The DLR began running here in July 1987 from Island Gardens from Platform 4 with services to Canary Wharf or Lewisham at Peak times only with the section between Bow Church and Stratford begin single track with the DLR being relocated in 2007.
The station has been redeveloped several times firstly in the 1990s for the arrival of the Jubilee Line Extension from Green Park use Platforms 13, 14 & 15 to and from Stanmore which since June 2011 operated under ATO with the lines main depot located at nearby Stratford Market.
London Overground North London Line since April 2009 with services to and from Richmond and Clapham Junction used by Class 378s which terminate on Platforms 1 and 2 and occasionally use Platform 10a although latter can be used for Freight services waiting to access the Great Eastern Main Line.
West Anglia services from Platform 11 and 12 terminate here mostly from Bishops Stortford which began running here in December 2005 with now a intermediate stop at Lea Bridge reopened in 2016 as well providing a shuttle service between here and Meridian Water which replaced Angel Road in June 2019.
The through lines enable for diverted services to access the GEML as well as empty stock movements to Temple Mills sidings located next to the Eurostar depot
HS1 stage 2 from Northfleet Junction to St Pancras International opened on November 14th 2007 although it wasn't until November 30th 2009 when Stratford International opened which nowadays served by South Eastern Class 395s however was placed by DFT's under operation of Last Resort in September 2021 similar to Northern and LNER.
The Olympic Stadium dates from July 2012 and home of the Olympic Games In London however since August 2016 It's now the home of West Ham United FC.
TFL Rail services nowadays are provided by Class 345 Aventras however it was only May 2021 when 9 car operation was able to commence although at the time of filming Crossrail was undergoing final stages of testing after 3 years of constant issues however direct trains from Shenfield via Stratford to Paddington won't likely be until Autumn 2022 at the earliest with full running to Reading as well as Heathrow Terminal 4 or 5 from Abbey Wood due to commence until May 2023 according to TFL.
Greater Anglias fleet has changed considerably with the Class 745s now the main intercity fleet displacing the Class 90s between January and March 2020 with the latter moving to Freightliner.
The Class 720s are slowing taking over and at the time of this upload 26 out of 133 were in service with more to come over the coming weeks and months. The non PRM Class 321s been around since 1988 were in their final weeks of operation whilst the Renatus sets and Ex Northern 321s and 322s are likely to stay on for now until enough 720s have entered service although full completion of the Class 720s take over on Greater Anglia is still unknown although Summer 2022 is the earliest date according to Greater Anglia.
A few days before filming Stratford was announced as the busiest station displacing London Waterloo according to the survey by Office for National Statistics.
However with Westfield Shopping Centre, heavy rail traffic despite the troubling times and uncertainty in some ways it's not hard to see why.
