In the early hours of the morning, the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) bravely tackled a greater alarm blaze that engulfed a row of two-story attached townhomes in the Sun Valley area of Los Angeles. The incident unfolded at 1114 W. Arminta St., as reported by LAFD spokesperson Brian Humphrey.
The fire was first reported at 2:59 a.m., triggering a rapid response from the dedicated team of firefighters. A total of 106 firefighters battled the intense blaze for 39 minutes, ultimately extinguishing it. Upon arrival, they encountered heavy flames originating in the attached garage of one of the central units, quickly spreading to the second floor of that unit and one adjacent townhome. Additionally, a nearby four-story apartment building sustained minor damage due to radiant heat.
During the fierce firefight, one LAFD firefighter experienced exhaustion. Following standard protocol, the firefighter was promptly transported to a local hospital, where they are reported to be in good condition awaiting medical clearance. Fortunately, there were no other reported injuries during the operation.
Regrettably, the fire resulted in the displacement of four adult residents who resided in the affected townhomes. These displaced individuals received much-needed assistance from the American Red Cross to help them navigate this challenging situation.
As investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing, the LAFD continues to work diligently to determine what led to this early morning inferno.
