Want to know how he actually did it? Cut out the audio of the person screaming stop. Honestly this advice is fine, but if you follow these rules to the teeth with every single car. You will bump one eventually because every car is different.

Don’t make this as a standard check blindly . Every car shape , bonnet length seating positions are different . So just checking the rear view mirror to find exactly distance is not a tight approach .

You can test for different car sizes/ models and see what works for driving parallel to a sidewalk and parking. Try experimenting lining up to the curb by first lining up to the middle of your dashboard, go outside the car and observe and keep experimenting with lining up a few millimeters closer to your driving wheel tighter lines until you find what works. If you want you can chalk that area of your car. Same goes for lining up your rear view mirror and behind a car.

exactly, I use my mom's car so the seat adjustment changes everytime. The only way is to use side view mirror pointed slight down

If your talking about the parallel parking one where he calls the side view mirror a rear view mirror it’s about lining up the mirror with the curb so you don’t scratch your wheels etc.

Technically, you're supposed to see their tires just below the bumper, lots of cars and trucks have different heights but if you focus on the bottom of the bumper and tire, you'll always be pretty much the same exact distance from every car you pull up behind
