Thanks for this video. It's helped me understand what has been visiting my birdfeed window all summer. It was small and flyffy at first but now is blackbird sized with a large red cap and red butt. A really rare sight for me. The black white patterns of the wing mixed with the red is so striking.

It is a rare moment. Woodpeckers are favorite in my backyard, I got several good shots of woodpeckers, but missed a male with the baby at the feeder. Their learning curve is so short, you were lucky to catch them. A terrific footage as well.

They really are fascinating and cute birds, they don't seen to sit up straight, but splodge onto the fencepost at 0:48

Superb. I've caught a 1001 shots of Woodpeckers but never two together that's always been my aim and up to now failed.

Brilliant footage. It must have taken great patience to set up. I got some very long distance shots of a male feeding a fledgling in my garden a couple of weeks ago, but they don't compare to these. Where were they taken.

Ok, the one that we saw...did not have any red that we could distinguish. Could this be a juvenile? It went for the suet. The others weren't freaked about it being there. We are in Tennessee, ..we have a few stragglers now and then , Towhees and Grosbeaks that we don't see often, but this guy showed up about a week ago right after a cold front and apparently is hanging around.
