Great Planes Trainer 60: Pt 17 Covering the Wings - Build Series - 65" Wingspan RC Balsa Aeroplane

Спорт

Covering the Wings is the 17th video in a series that will take you through the construction and flight of a 65" wingspan Great Planes Trainer 60. This is an iconic trainer, which was designed by J. Bridi and revised by Don Anderson for the Great Planes Model Manufacturing Company in 1986.
I will be making a couple of small modifications along the way! The plane will be powered by an English made Merco 61 glow engine. The plans were downloaded from OuterZone website. A link to the plans is provided below.

Great video, if I had recorded myself covering my latest project with this covering KZread would have taken the video down for abusive language.

Something I like to use before covering, I use a liberal coat of Sig Stix-it It really makes the covering stick to the balsa!

I like the monocote and I've got models I covered with it over 20 years ago and still no wrinkles! The old 21st century fabric and film's we're amazing too! I'm glad I stocked up before they quit selling it!

Looks great for all your struggles. Hopefully the monokote I got for mine works ok. Will be my first covering experience beyond tissue and dope.

Considering that covering I think you have done very well. I like your use of putting a glass shelf underneath, I will use that myself. Looking good. Terry

@@MarkRobinson555 one of your subscribers mentioned that you can get covering for £20 for 5 meters. I have used it and it's very good. Reminded me of solarfilm.

Hey Mark, I've had some good success with the covering that 4max have started selling.. Was a bit dubious at first as its only £20 for a 5m roll but it shrinks and sticks well and no glue squeeze out

It stretches well around corners wingtip etc. Good resistance to high heat too so I turn up the iron and smooth it around edges and it comes out well

Thats correct, I do explain why in the video - the white was so poor and because of the issue with the colour bleeding I decided not to use it.

@@MarkRobinson555 over the years I have always covered plane with polyster film & spray painted my planes , rarely I used iron on covering.
