    +Nerb1 I have never seen any helmets, but I believe you. I'm pretty sure there was also a tree of shame at the top with broken fairings etc on it, similar to the one at the Tail of the Dragon in the USA. Not sure if that is still there. I bet you did!

    Been up Mt Glorious and down Mt Nebo a few times during my time in Brissie. Off Waterworks Road, through The Gap to Brookfield and Kenmore where I stayed with friends and my business partner. Great times and great memories of Brisbane, SEQ, GC and northern NSW…Easter weekends camping at Brunswick on the river...surfing and beach cricket, fun times! Time to visit again methinks! Take care and ride safe! 🏍️🍺🇦🇺👍😎🇿🇦

    When I road these roads in the late 70's and early 80's the road from the picknic area of Mt Glorious down to the turnoff to Esk was dirt. The wet the clay was awful combined with the leaves. Did we slip off, yes regularly in the wet. Not to bad in the dry. All the roads are now upgraded and easier to traverse. Same went for the back roads to Malaney. I do ride these now and still enjoy it. Great vid.

    First time I rode Mt. Glorious mid 1980s on my GPZ 1100 it came to a dead end in the rain forest. However it did loop back to Brisbane . A few years later on my Moto Guzzi Lemans MK 4 it went all the way to the valley below to the dam. . Looks like the wooden fences in the middle of the road separating the lanes on corners have been removed .. I even rode a friends Suzuki GSXR 1100 ( 1st model 1100 ) on that road doing naughty speeds before the coppers infested it ..Me and the boys loved riding it until we all had kids , mortgages .. Bikes were sold etc I haven't ridden that road in 25 years .. Thanks for the memory ..

    My go-to ride. I like to leave Brisbane heading to Samford then up Glorious that way. You're now 2k from the popular biker owned cafe stop having joined the road that leads up from The Gap/Mt Nebo. Then it's a nice ride to head down the other side backtracking what this nice vid shows and stop at the famous pie shop at Fernvale, then turn around and come all that same way back, or continue highway driving back via Mt Ommaney. Or for a longer ride aim for Esk and clockwise loop the Wivenhoe Dam then back up after that. Beautiful Australian country farmland, lake side and bush, recently resealed roads and very little traffic. A great half day out!

    I've never been up to Glorious from the Samford way, I'll have to do that next time. I love that whole area around the Brisbane Valley and recently explored a few routes from the valley up to Crows Nest which were awesome! I've done the loop from Dayboro over Mount Mee, Kilcoy, around Somerset Dam and and then back over Glorious a few times. I have another video of that exact route here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hKaiw6uynZWcotI.html

I to did it with wet roads and was a little cautious after seeing all the posts about people dumping diesel over the roads :-( They are splenderous views from some of the look outs and quiet peaceful places for family picnics. I will get to Mt Nebo soon ;-)

    Nice road Mr Aus, I can see why there's a police presence, do you have a point system on your licence, ie: get caught speeding and ya get a fine and points on ya licence, it would be 3 points here, do you get wildlife on the road up there other than birds? RSM8.

  • @MrAusadventure

    @MrAusadventure

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Skeggy Cruiser Yep. From 1 to 3 points mostly. Depending on how many km over the speed limit you were or the offense in general (not only speeding gives points), but if you are doing something extreme, then they can also give 6 points. This normally comes with loss of licence as well. Wildlife is always an issue. Mainly kangaroos, but depending on the location, loads of other animals from deer, pigs, emus, goats, wombats, the list goes on. Snakes are also common as Big Kev likes to remind us! lol RS2M8 :-)

    +azdesertdog I reckon so! We had a few slow cars in front at times, but as I said, the speed limits are low and it's not a high speed road so that was OK. We did have a better run than normal though and it was a lot quieter up there than normal. I guess being New Years Eve, people were too busy getting ready for their nightly celebrations, rather than being on the roads.
