I was looking for videos on the VFR1200X as I’m considering getting one, looked at the workshop- now learning about Oz . Whats not to like, it’s great - pissing down here in the UK .
Watching the whole series again to help me plan my big lap. Been meaning to do it for 34 years but life got in the way. I need to do this before I croak.

Interesting stuff. Thanks for posting as a miserable cold summers day here. Perfect for watching your tour. Scott riding a Tiger 1050 (2008). Cheers
BTW, I spent 5 glorious days on ARAAF Townsville back in 91 when I was in the US Navy. Such good people and great memories

Not so sure about the “effortless part”! It was definitely not designed for the Hells Gate road but on the bitumen it is an absolute weapon.

@@abitofadetour7315 If you have not done so already, I recommend suspension spring upgrade and revalving. The progressive rate OEM springs are too soft initially, and the bike tends to wallow and bottom out. I changed to heavier constant rate springs with Racetech gold valves and it totally changed the bike for the better. It improves the backroad/offroad experience enormously. The Crosstourer is an amazing, underrated machine. I love mine.

Have a great trip. It's a fantastic adventure.
Me and three mates did a trip from Newcastle to Karumba a few years back, up through Moree, Longreach, and then across to Cairns and back down through Bowen. Funnily enough we stopped at Gayndah in the pub on the corner (man, what a shithole). I loved that trip. Good work!

I got a bit tired of having the GoPro on my helmet due to the wind drag and my helmet didn’t allow it to mount on the front middle so I ended up with it mostly on the bike pointing forward.

My wife and I have enjoyed watching all your Videos so far. Great photos and agree with your realistic views on some of Australias most iconic camp spots. It certainly has become over crowded in these places. Would you mind sharing how you created the map with animated travel line. Liked it as we could see where your traveling at a glance. We also ride and video our adventures. Take care look forward to your next videos.

I found a video on KZread where a guy detailed how to do it and I simply copied it with a few little changes to make it my own. I use Davinci Resolve which once you get over the steepish learning curve is pretty easy.

@@abitofadetour7315 Thanks for the reply, Is it possible the route line animation is produced using google maps then once the animation video is produced in google maps you use Davinci to edit into your videos. Just trying to figure out which program generated the line and names of the towns along the line

Hey john watch this 10 episodes!
Thanks for the video. I live in the US and my bucket list is to ride a motorcycle around the entire Australian continent. What are a few high and low points during your trip?
@abitofadetour7315
Жыл бұрын
High points would be Western Australia in all its enormous, stark beauty and all the interesting people I met along the way including Steve the cyclist from Hobart. Low points would be the Hells Gate to Boroloola road (a total bastard) and not much else. Thanks for watching.
Great graphics. How did create the route map?
@abitofadetour7315

I used ‘Fusion’ inside Davinci Resolve which is the video editing software I use (Australian made by the way). I followed an instructional video on KZread by a guy called tshansen called “Motorcycle Travel Map in Davinci Resolve”
Just about to binge your trip ... what do you use to create the red line route over map graphic?
@abitofadetour7315
Жыл бұрын
It’s all done in Davinci Resolve the video editing software I use. It’s a bit of mucking around but once you’ve got it figured it it’s pretty quick and easy.
Was there sufficient servos along the way? Or did you need to carry fuel with you? Couple of us are planning on biking Adelaide to cairns as we weren’t sure on how to get across the northern coast to west and back to sa due to fuel
@abitofadetour7315
2 ай бұрын
Fuel was not a problem. I did carry a fuel bladder but never used it. Came close to running out once on the great ocean road but only due to getting lazy with filling up because it was cold and rainy and I didn’t want to stop. Rolled into Apollo Bay on fumes
What time of year did you go on your trip? I am wondering about balancing the need to avoid the heat and wet in the north with it not being freezing cold through the south.
@abitofadetour7315

I set off around mid June and spent 7 weeks on the road. For me the heat up north is a bigger issue than the cold down south, but your mileage might vary.
