Thank you for another lovely, interesting and enjoyable video. The Loire and some of the drought prone rivers in Europe have herring bone underwater walls to concentrate the flow into the main channel when levels fall. Very dangerous. They dont anchor as a rule, collision. When I was young everyone anchored. There was no marinas we towed 17 ft clinker larch built lake boats which were very easy to row, we had a sailing one. The quays were used commercially. I never take up my fenders.

Great video. The fog and deadheads in the early morning were a bit uncomfortable (at least for me) not to mention the larger cruiser that passed close by at speed. Did the Rosborough that passed you send a video of Stay Cool as they went by. Seems that I saw the same boat in a previous video. Keep up the great work. I am sure that we all appreciate it.

Hi Gary and thanks for watching! We didn’t mind the early morning fog in this episode. It was actually not heavy fog and didn’t prevent us from seeing properly. It makes for some pretty scenes and burned off after the sun came up. The Rosborough is a looper boat, good friends of ours on Boomerang and we often trade photos and videos on many passages. I try to credit others in the episode notes. We appreciate you following along!

A big step in the journey and it all came out well. Noticed lots of trash in the water and that just makes for a headache. With the end of salt water you will pick up more mountains and better scenery. Enjoy

Our prior boat was a flybridge with a full StrataGlass enclosure. One of the unwritten rules of decorum ( somewhat like not cruising with your fenders hanging overboard) was not to let the straps that are normally deployed to hold the rolled up sections in place hang unsecured when those sections are not rolled up. While the supposed logic is that the unsecured straps could swing across the StrataGlass and cause some scratching, I think the real reason is simply one of maintaining a neat appearance. However, if you’re navigating the Loop , I imagine snapping and unsnapping those straps every day can be an annoyance. We’re you aware of the “don’t let the straps hang unsecured” rule or does it just seem silly? I don’t miss any of your episodes-keep it up.

Hi Robert and thanks for following our journey. We weren’t aware of any eisenglass straps rule and you’re right, when navigating almost everyday, one doesn’t have time to worry about it. We would tie them however if it was particularly windy so they wouldn’t scratch the windows. 😎

What is your fuel flow (MPG or GPM)?

Good question Paul. The fuel flow varies greatly depending on the current and water and wind conditions. However, with our total 6,228 miles and 1,800 gallons of fuel we can calculate 3.46 MPG or 0.29 GPM. Thanks for watching!
