GREAT FOOD and AMAZING MUSEUMS in Cincinnati Ohio - Fulltime RV Travel

Cincinnati is full of great things to see, do, and eat! We stayed at the nearby Indian Lakes Thousand Trails and drove into the city a few times to visit. Come along with us as we visit the Taft House, the Sign Museum, and try a bunch of yummy food. Cincinnati Chili was at the top of the list for our visit, so we made sure to stop by Camp Washington for some of their world-famous dishes. We topped off the day with some shopping at Findlay Market where we grabbed some food to grill and share with our fellow campers.

If you guys end up in cincy again with the kids try Newport aquarium! Well, even if you don’t have the kids it’s a cool place to check out still. I’ve always heard the zoo is awesome too and we also saw Loveland castle while in the area. It was a great day trip. Now that we have a boat, we go from rising sun Indiana up the river to dock in cincy. It’s the coolest experience especially when the reds are playing!

I was born and still live in Cincinnati! I’m glad you enjoyed it. We love all the places you mentioned. Next time you come make time for the Cincinnati Zoo! Our zoo get many awards. The zoo runs a large amount of their electric off solar panels in the parking lot. They use run off rain water for some of the water usage for flowers and such. Highly effective place with low impact on the environment. We also have some lovely nature centers around. We also have Union Terminal that used to be a train station that is now a museum. It has a lot of fun things to do, including the Omnimax, which is a 5 story domed theater!

College time in Cincinnati , way back in the day, my wife and I became die hard Skyline fans. In fact, we found one in Lakewood, Florida near our old bricks and sticks. Now in the RV we love traveling in Ohio to enjoy Skyline!

I don’t know if you are an old NFL fan or not - CBS used to have a retired football player on their broadcast team named Irv Cross. When I was in Grad school one Sat at that Skyline, his production team brought him into the restaurant apparently for his first experience…apparently not giving him much background on the place…we sat there watching him order a “bowl” of chili (which no one does) and he was done after one intense spoonful but his production crew seemed to be fans and thoroughly enjoyed their experience! Cincinnati born and raised. When I moved away years ago I missed Cincinnati chili. I moved back though. The Art Museum is awesome. The Rookwood Pottery exhibit is awesome and it’s beautiful tiles and vases are incredible. If you love our chili you need to try all the different chili parlors as they’ve been called. I agree skyline chili is pricey fast food but it’s a great chili fix for a quick lunch or dinner. I apologize for the cicadas. If you get to come back try some Cincinnati ice cream shops. Graeter’s ice cream is incredible and my favorite with so many unique flavors and all the usual flavors too. There are 2 stadiums, the Cincinnati Reds home is Great American Ballpark. The Cincinnati Bengals home is Paul Brown Stadium. The Cincinnati Reds were the first professional baseball team.

Hey guys! Spent 7 years in Cincinnati at UC getting 2 degrees and love the town, the Reds and Skyline Chili. Tried CW, Dixie, Gold Star & Empress Chili, Skyline is the best tasting…should never get it take out - completely different experience. Clifton Skyline is a premium experience - huge mound of cheese on top or get it like some locals “inverted” with cheese on top of the pasta then the chili to melt the cheese more. Yum !- Harris Teeter carried it in NoVA…in Atlanta Kroger and Publix both have it. Rob

We live in Norwood, the largest city completely surrounded by another city and the most densely populated city in Ohio. 1) skyline!! All the way! 2) Cicadas are 6 weeks, and I bought a bee keepers hat this time for yard work, because I too have the curly hair and they get stuck and screech in you ear 😶. 3) we have so many cool museums. I missed if you said you went to the museum center at union terminal, it has several museums and we too have a wonderful children’s museum there. The natural history museum is amazing as well.

First, Great positive energy from you two. So glad you enjoyed Cincinnati. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, I've lived here for almost 50 years. Camp Washington is my favorite of the Cincinnati chili places. Learned new things from you especially about Taft House and sign museum. BTW, the Cincinnati Reds are officially the first professional baseball team -established in 1869 and that's 152 years ago. Please come back - so many treasures for you to discover - go to Museum Center in the old Art Deco Train Station. It houses the Museum of Natural History, the Historical Society and other museums as well as OmniMax Theater.

You were about 40 miles from me when you were in both cities. I grew up in Columbus, Ohio. There is a lot to see there. COSI is a science museum for kids. Dayton, Ohio has the Air museum. It was free the last time I took my boys. Cleveland Ohio has Cuyahoga Valley state park which is beautiful in the fall. I was going to mention the Underground Railroad museum in Cincinnati, but you got the covered. Comer Prairie is a little bit farther in Indiana. There is so much to see in these two states that it will keep you busy for a while. God bless and safe travels!

I am also from the area and, unfortunately, had to relocate for work several years go. But will always be a Cinti fan! I agree with many others here - Jungle Jim's Intl Market in Fairfield (a suburb on northern edge of Cinti) is a MUST - both you and the kids will enjoy it. Union Terminal is just west of Findlay Market - a super place for the family as the museums there are impressive. The Zoo is also worth the time invested. Try visiting the Riverfront area next time - lots of outdoor space to enjoy the scenery and for kids to burn energy! Agree on Sign Museum and Findlay Market...And my vote - Skyline all the way!

Gold star chili is another fast food chili parlor. Also try blue ash chili. The cincinnati Zoo and botanical gardens is a must see. An authentic German restaurant to try is meclenburg gardens. It is over 130 years old. If you are into murals there are over 60 of the around cincinnati. There is a website with a map for them. Devou park in kentucky has the best over look of the city. I lived in Cincinnati for 7 months with my granddaughter during her bone marrow transplant and I never could make myself like their Chilli. We lived in the Ronald McDonald house right beside the Children's hospital and the zoo,, and they made it at least once a week. I'm a Georgia Southern girl and have my own taste of Chilli and it's definitely not theirs. I actually liked the coney dogs without the Chilli Come to the South and we'll show you what a good pot of Chilli is😊

Next time you are in Cincinnati try Goldstar chili. Skyline and Goldstar aren't as good as thet used to be when they were smaller businesses. If you want good Skyline chili the last time I was in Ft Meyer Florida they had a good one that was run the old school way.

Thank you, I've been trying to remember the name of that place! Payday Fridays work lunch group would sometimes go there. I moved to Flordia and couldn't remember the name of the place. Didn't they serve over corn chips, if you requested?

Skyline & Gold star chili are good. But Camp Washington is the legend of all. I’m from the Northern Ky/Cincy area & eat skyline chili once every 2 weeks lol

I see you mentioned Skyline Chili as a fast food version of Cincinnati Chili. But it’s also another one called GoldStar Chili.

In April we stopped at a ebike shop in Cincinnati to test ride an ebike. We were not impressed with the neighborhood. I was looking forward to leaving town. I'm not a sports person either. But I didn't know about Mt Washington Chili! Next time I come through I'll definitely check out the chili. "Indian Lakes Thousand Trails".......you call that nearby? It's 40mi away.

Cincinnati chili, besides being inedible, isn’t even chili. Cinnamon? Camp Washington Chili is in a relatively new building. The old one was a true dump
