Great Ebike But Came with One BIG Problem! - Engwe EP-2 Pro

CHEAP but Awesome Fat Tire EBIKE - Engwe EP 2 Pro 1st Impressions
I got my hands on an Engwe EP 2 Pro Ebike and it's great. Similar to the ADO a20F but with an extra 250 watts. Will I be able to tell the difference?
This could be the best value ebike with decent performance in 2022.

If you're concerned about the legal aspects then the ENGWE MOTOR X is pretty much identical but has been made road legal for EU and has a 250W motor. (From the videos I've watched I think it's fair to say that the motor peaks above 250W). It has a Certificate of Conformity on the back of the seat tube which means it's legal to use in EU. The bike comes with a throttle but it is non-functional on delivery. Enabling/disabling the throttle takes about 10 seconds and requires no fiddling with wires or anything like that, there's videos showing how it's done and it's really easy. I haven't ridden one but the reviews I've seen (all in Spanish) have all been positive.

Since I plan to ride on streets, I ordered a car backup camera to mount on rear fender/frame with a 4.3 monitor on handlebar instead of mirrors. It may require a separate battery supply if I can't find a way to get 12volts from the bike battery. But we shall see. I am an electronic tech.

Good question. Well i do really like the bike mainly because it's got decent power. Obvious things are taking off the rack and mudguards/fenders. Then maybe get a saddle with shorter stork. Swap handlebars for lighter bmx style. Maybe you could get lighter wheels.

There were 2 issues with mine. 1. The cable needed tightening. That's the cable that sticks out near the cogs on the back wheel. Just loosen the screw the cable goes through, then tighten it up as you pull it with pliers. Second thing is the metal thing that guards the cogs was actually stopping the metal gear pulley from moving so I had to move it and bend it a little.

Nothing can touch the Ado A20f once upgraded to 48 volt. I traded my 36 volt in and paid the small difference for the 48 volt and its the best upgrade ever. Ado should have released such a heavy bike with 48 volt and their sales would have gone through the roof. Oh and remember all versions of this bike are 500 watts motor once unlocked but the EU version will come in as a nominal 250 watts to keep inline with EU law but this bike is really 500 watts when unlocked.

If you want to get a long range you want to pedal and have it on speed mode 2 or 3 and will achieve 60km plus round trips easy. The bike is bloody heavy but rides well. Never had a problem. I’ve had this bike for over 6 months and rode past numerous police officers. Just gotta be wary and not go full throttle when they’re walking by and you’ll be fine. They’re more concerned with taking away e-scooters.

I was deciding between this and the Fiido M1 PRO. I went with the M1 pro which is AWESOME. But this is just as good. I like it in the grey finish. This does make more noise than the M1 pro though at least in your recording. Bikes as big as these really need that 48v 12.8ah battery. And you can tell with the torque and hill climbing. I liked the look of the ADO A20F. But the 36v 10.4AH battery isn't enough for a bike of its size. That's where ADO went wrong. If it could be converted to 48v. Its still the most awesome looking fat tyre ebike out there. I keep getting asked at traffic lights by guys on mopeds. What am I riding on. They get confused when they see the fat tyres.

I think you're right, these fat tyre bikes look powerful so they deserve as much power as possible. 250w doesn't make any sense at all to me. I'm sure the ado could be converted and yeah it does look awesome. I quite like the engwe in orange 😊

I've been doing research on this bike since ive owned it, and it seems to me the 750w spec is just a 500w motor with a peak power of 750w because it has a 18amp controller which maxes out at 864w. Tested the fiido m1 pro with a 500w motor and that gives you the same torque (80nm) as the engwe

I love Engwe Engine Pro bike but my i-ERS system has never worked. It is what is supposed to charge your battery when coasting downhill in 0 or 1 peddle assist with no throttle. Turns out they sold me one that has the wrong motor and likely wrong controller by accident? I would think they would have tested it before shipping it. They have really poor customer service. They reply quickly but make you send videos and pictures and still can't see the difference or under stand that MPH is faster than KPH. The finally after almost two months agreed to send me a new motor if the controller is compatible, I have to send them a picture of the label on it. If it is not compatible, they will not send the replacement motor and want me to settle for a partial refund. That sucks, why can't they send a controller and a motor if they are both defective? Yes they work but are defective by definition in that they lack the advertised "Your Range Booster" function on their website.
