I see on the GDSF home page they're cancelling the 2023 show and will run a 2024 show. Looks like the costs of running such a huge event have skyrocketed. Even with a steep admission price it's not enough to make a go of it. So, this video was enjoyable - the next best thing to being there.

Nope... 2024 is also cancelled, what a diabolical shame, the biggest and by far the best event in the U.K. I’ll sorely miss it... 😢

Amazing! What were the elaborate steam traction engines with generators originally used for? Greetings from Wisconsin USA

Like all big rallies, the great dorset became a victim of its own success. It got TOO big, with too many outgoings.. and as a result, with a high gate charge- along with the rising cost of living ended up having poor attendance. It needs massively slimming down, with an affordable drop of gate price- say £10, as well as catering prices putting on planet earth.. before its lost forever. A similar thing happened to the Mighty Pickering Traction Engine Rally too. Such a shame.

when I went there last year I saw a lot of people selling cider and a lot of drinkers. it reminded me of what I had seen at farming shows in France. we left before anybody started hitting each other.

@@eliotreader8220 Theres nothing worse than a rally full of boozers. True rally enthusiasts, go to see the exhibits- not stood around talking rubbish, and generally being a nuisance in beer tents, and everywhere else that they roam. Attendees like that would definately put me off, on top of everything else at Ridiculous prices. Sometimes, I think that sheer greed takes over by these organisers- rather than a genuine interest in the rally itself, which is rather sad.

Great show, but £30 admission per day, is taking things too far.

@@nigelperyer9354 yes, I can see where you are coming from- but it's not just that.. the country is bordering a huge recession, some people can't even afford to eat. Then it's the transport there, and back- somewhere to stay for the night, then food and drink, then pocket money.. etc etc. It's ok for the 'Haves', in society, but the core of people who go, ordinary people- are now mostly 'have nots' due to the cost of living rise.. and this was reflected at the last show, that for the 1st time ran at a loss- and as a result is cancelled this year.

It's called being out of touch with reality, with the rising cost of living, and the ordinary working class person- who are the backbone and the majority of the attendees at these shows.. In other words- sheer Greed. £15 on the gate, would have this show packed, but no.. they thought that they were indispensable, and that came around and bit them hard on the arse.

At 6.26 - that"s the worst organ I've seen, it doesn't matter how much she winds it she's not getting a tune out of it.
