Growing up in the 50s in Wisconsin, we never heard of pizza until Dean Martin's song. Then a pizza restaurant opened up in our nearby town, and we fell in love with it. But it was expensive, so my mother used to make pizza at home from The Appian Way pizza kit which was just then new at the stores right around 1959.

And you are seeing the hands and face, and hearing the voice of this beloved person as she tells the stories about inventing and cooking these dishes ….. decades ago! Everyone offhandedly commenting “I wish there were more videos like these” are absolutely right - they are few, and precious - *and as all of our favorite cooks, musicians, artists, and teachers, storytellers, must pass away someday, so we must cherish, bookmark, take notes, and share these pearls of wisdom.* As each day goes, fewer and fewer voices from the Golden Age remain to have their stories heard.

@@countvond233 Her pizza is healthy looking. You can see its not dripping with grease from being covered with too much mozzarella, pepperoni and sausage. Notice she had no meat at all and at most a half cup of cheese for the whole pizza. Limited sauce too, the main star is the dough.

That made me a little sad and nostalgic hearing Clara talk about the closeness of her family while she was growing up. Our family was like that too in the 50s and early 60s. My father supported 9 kids on a house painter's salary. We didn't have a lot of toys or a TV but we never went hungry and always had warm clothes. Some of my happiest memories were the years before my dad bought a used TV in 1966. We were never bored. We occupied our time playing cards or reading books. Drawing pictures. We must have had two or three thousand comic books scattered throughout the house. We spend hours just sitting around talking and laughing. Telling stupid jokes or singing songs. These days everybody just wants to isolate with their tech toys and do their own thing. It's sad that this type of selfish behavior is becoming more and more acceptable.

I started watching Clara in 2020 during the Covid pandemic, it’s crazy how she speaks about her family being closer during the great depression because she had less money, there wasn’t enough food and people we either at home or at work. Not to compare 2020 to the great depression because through Clara it sounds worse than the 2020 pandemic, BUT in 2020 we all got closer to our families for the sake of being stuck home, we looked up tiktok coffee recipes and found ways to be creative with what we were going through, it’s also the same time Clara’s channel came back up to the surface.
