This is a PC case released not too long ago - the be quiet! Shadow Base 800 FX in White. We could most likely consider this an upper-class, high-end case, and that's something the price does seem to confirm. So given the high price, the case simply needs to deliver.
I will tell you in advance, that the Shadow Base 800 FX is great at its core and as far as its general features are concerned, but it also deserves strong criticism when it comes to its accessories. Especially when talking about mechanical hard drives. You'll find out exactly what I mean in today's video.

What's your take on the accessory situation? 🤔 Am I being too harsh here or is my criticism justified? 🤔😅

Minor criticism....they could have included at least one 3,5 disk drive tray out of the box (any idea how much are they) This exact case can be found for 190 eur in my country not cheap but neither priced out of this world like some sff. Too bad I'm looking for something smaller (but built well)

i think with how cheap SSDs are nowadays, HDDs aren't going to be common for this case's target buyers. Or if they do have HDDs still, they probably have a NAS to put them in instead of the case.

The price really isn't that bad when you consider it comes with 4 lightwing 140 fans, which a 3 pack is $80, unless on sale

Oh these folks exist, I my own repair business and have stacks upon stacks of those old ancient PoS's. I could probably build a 1story HDD brick wall with them. I just had a customer order 12, count em 12 new mechanical drives. 5 for each raid computer he is running and 2 backup replacement drives. 32 years from now when he finally gets Windows 10 installed he might be back looking for a few 64gb SSD's

These newer cases are not designed for ancient technology. Mechanical drives should be used in a NAS and not inside the case as they take up valuable room for slow mediocre nonsensical performance. They don't include the trays to reduce the initial cost so ppl don't have top pay for crap they don't need or want. It does come off cheap though at this price point not include them but for most users those trays would just add to the landfills anyway. If you are still using Mechanical drives then this style case is not for you, you can easily find old obsidian 900d or Cosmos II cases for hoarding nonsensical mechanical drives.

In the end this case is quite basic. It just large. Imo way overpriced compared to something like lancool 3

Yep, those 4 Lightwings fans that run $50-$60 for a 3 pack went completely unnoticed by your expert assumption. That and the fact this case house room for 420 rads top and front, something that Lancool III cannot do for $70 less, almost the price of the included lightwings fan mentioned earlier lol. Brilliant observations Einstein.

I guess you're the real Einstein here since: Lancool 3 can fit Liquid freezer 420 top or front Shadow base 800 cant comfortably fit LF 420 on top, only slim rads. Also 420rad in SB800 its slightly long and squishes the front panel connector cables (Hands on experience) The base model without light wings is still 150, and comes with less fans then the lancool iii. That being said. Imo the lancool iii is ugly. But if u want utility, its hard to (objectively) beat for the price they want for it. I would argue Silent base 802 is a better buy over this case, but you lose the 420 support on top completely. Ps, Im no expert, I just tried this case and was a bit dissapointed. For 200 can get nicer stuff imo. Ended up with a P600s (not to bothered about 420 support) and its great :)

Well, it's too basic and the redeeming quality are performance wise and it's slightly bigger frame. It's definitely not worth it, for my taste. What turns me down with this case is the lack of storage/drive bays, no rubber grommets and no cable management tray/side cover. I think considering the price of this case there are a lot more better options in the market. This case is actually pretty good if you only care about performance and want that basic look of a modern case. 🤣

Funny that the storage space you're moaning about is now on Motherboards these days. Basic? 2 420 rad support with $80 worth of included lightwings fans makes this case a steal. If you need that much storage space then get a NAS and keep the clunky slow crap outside. HDD cages are as obsolete as 5 1/4 drive bays these days, they include them to be able to sell new cases to antique PC owners. Even a basic MB these days has 3 or more slots which is plenty for normal users.
