Loved seeing the prey, then the. Attack. I studied the ground but couldn’t see what caused the heron to attack at that point. Clearly the heron is perceptive of something that I am not. Cool captures Jim!

Thanks Rod. Even with the large number of captures I’ve seen, the birds still mystify me. Sometimes I think they hear it and other times it seems they have eyes in the back of their head. In any event they are the masters.

Accurate strikes for an immediate kill, what a precise and deadly bird!

I’ve seen a good number of herons and this bird is one of the most impressive.

LOL I watched that Vermilion flycatcher section in super slow motion several times. He really does kick the glass! Adorable!

I saw him again this morning. If you park in a certain spot he will come and land on your mirror even if you are in the car. He is a very adorable little bird.

Two gophers were sitting in their den. One turns to the other and says, “Do you think we live short lives?” The other gopher replied, “Well, you know what they say… ….here today, gone by Heron tomorrow!”
