Spotted Garden Eel (heteroconger hassi)
You'll find these shy little critters in sandy seabeds in current-swept areas. Spotted garden eels dig burrows with their strong tails and line them with mucus to fortify the walls. They retreat into their burrows at any sign of danger, then pop back out when the coast is clear. They keep their big mouths open to feed on zooplankton as it drifts past on the current.
