GRAYSON HIGHLANDS 50K | PONIES AND LONGHORNS

Спорт

My running of the 2022 Grayson Highlands 50K went about as well as could be expected. Unfortunately, the weather conditions made it difficult to create the kind of viewing experience I strive for to provide inspiration to fellow mountain, trail and ultra runners. However, I feel that the beauty of this race course in the Highlands of Virginia still shines through, even in the conditions we were faced with. This was my 12th ultra marathon for the year in preparation for the Tahoe 200, so I didn't taper for any of my racing leading up to my big summer event. My race commentary is rather sparse in this one as both the conditions as well as the shorter race distance make it harder to properly narrate a race. Hopefully, it still provides some insight into this beautiful race course and area.

Thanks for the video. I signed up for a race on this course in May. It's nice to know what kind of terrain it is.

I'm sure you will have much better conditions than we had last year. We missed out on both the views and the usual wildlife (ie wild ponies).

I've seen that race online. Just getting into trail running but might have to sign up for one of the shorter ones. I love to go hiking up there its probably my favorite area that's not too far from me.

It is an absolutely beautiful area, I’ll have to come back when the visibility is a bit better. Just go ahead and sign up for a trail race of any distance, you won’t regret it. The trail running community is amazing and supportive.
