    I've only tried the Pro, and I think the MP is the same stick in a lighter package with the 16x19 pattern. I would expect it to have the highest launch angle and offer similar instability to the Gravity MP. We found the Pro to play a bit "wobbly" and was ultimately unstable under pressure.

    I was a Gravity MP user about 18 months ago. Then I transitions through a few frames, until I ended up falling in love with the 2023 Radical MP. I love the way it complements my big serve + 1 aggressive style. My volleys and slice backhand are much better on this frame. The low launch angle is the only feature I have struggled with at times. I am using a shaped co-poly main with a coated multi cross to get a bit higher launch and some added feel. Crisp, lively, and good balance of spin/feel is the way to go here. The Head Lynx Tour / Velocity MLT hybrid suggested for this frame by my demo company was a good place to start. I do not like dead or muted feeling strings in this frame at all. I have also found that polys at low tension didn't work for me either. The ball either launched on flat shots or died on heavy spin shots. Maybe that's the string pattern density working against the tension? My short list of competing options included the Ezone 98, Blade 98 16x19, Pure Strike, Dunlop FX Tour. The Radical MP kind of lives in that world of frames.

  • @TennCom

    @TennCom

    What polys have you tried? I'm thinking going to a round poly at 4lbs lower tension would fix your problems. Regular Lynx is pretty underrated for round poly with good pop. For more feedback, something like Signum Pro Firestorm would be at the top my my list. I'm taking my Rad MP into the next stages as a potential switch and I'm definitely going to drop the tension from my standard 52lbs and choose a more powerful string than my usual Tour Sniper. I'm going to use Grapplesnake Alpha which was literally design to be a more powerful Tour Sniper so its a little easier for me. More videos on the Rad MP coming for sure...

    So I just bought the new Radical MP and although I kept it quite stock for now (just overgrip and dampner) I noticed that the serves were amazing! And the feeling was quite more plush, weird but addictive sensation. During rallies I felt that it was too light perhaps and a bit too easy to swing. Yes my 360+ radMPs are 10gs heavier...I will adjust the Aux with a bit of lead for my next play, although maybe not as much (the extra 10g felt quite tiring during long rallies and matches) maybe just a few grams at 3-9 and in the butt. But so far it felt darn good playing with it!

    A few matches in and I am starting to hate it. The flex (aux tech) feels unpredictable at times and I have no real connection with the ball during slices and when going for top spin shots. Also in defence the ball really falls short, even when trying harder. Last but not least...I am suffering wrist issues. Going to tune the racket a bit more, a different set up, more head light...first Ill take a day off though.

    You've commented about it a lot, so I feel obliged to give it to you straight. It is extremely unlikely that the Instinct ever gets any air time on this channel for multiple reasons. One, public interest. Without any sponsorships and the Instinct being relegated to a budget model, people don't care about it much and I expect viewership on Instinct content to be poor. Two, I have not liked any Instinct models in the past so my own personal interest in the frame is low at best.

Would you recommend both MPs for versatility, or stick with 1 versus the other?! Thanks for the insightful review 🤙🏽

  • @TennCom

    @TennCom

    7 ай бұрын

    The arm pain I experienced was not due to the racquet's stiffness. There are two mains ways you can get arm pain. One, bad technique. Two, high vibration racquet/string setups. The Gravity is too light for me and ways causing me to mistime the ball, so my arm pain in this case was due to bad technique. I would not expect the Gravity MP to give anyone arm pain due to excessive vibration.

    Reguarding what you call "racquet fatigue", I had quite the opposite feeling. I started with a Head Ti. Fire 30 years ago, and it served me well as an attack weapon. Heavy as hell (363 g strung) and stiff, 18/20 pattern, 98 sq in and original feel like racquets used to. In some terms it was quite like the way you described the Radical. But as time went by, my shots got worse, I missed more and more shots, until I restarted with a new racquet. 6 g lighter, more flexible, strung differently, but still kinda heavy, 98 sq in and 18/20. It felt like a reset to what I was capable to do. So there must be something in between. Staying with the same racquet for too long is obviously just as bad as changing every day. The marketing BS never caught me, but they keep telling us to have reinvented the wheel every year.

  • @TennCom

    @TennCom

    Yeah the graphite definitely does break down over time. I've noticed my 2.5 year old Extreme Tours, which have seen countless string jobs and some gentle abuse on court feel like they've lost a lot of their punch. My friend got a pair of new ones and they feel way more crisp and stable. BTW, Head racquet produce before like 2015 were measured differently than they are today. Your old 98 is closer to a "true 95" by the standards of every other company.

  • @sebastiandomagala9233

    @sebastiandomagala9233

    @@TennCom Well, they were not advertised as 98, I held a Blade 98 over it and saw the difference - none at all. It was not so much the softening, which I would have appreciated, they just felt dead. I fear my new "Gollum's Precious" might go dead as well one day, but they are still on their maiden strings. I switched to 16/19 btw, makes my racquets even more an attack weapon, because I can hit way harder due to more topspin. The ball will stay in, whereas my denser strung racquets required some holding back. Defense is still not my favourite position however. I am way too slow for that. So I play like Azarenka, just stand there and hit bombs.

    Hi Becket, do you think that the new Gravity MP needs a bit of customization to be a better racket? I have the 2021 version and sometimes i feel that maybe a few grams more could help me responding some fast pace or heavy shots. I used the Radical 2021 before the Gravity and i felt that i doesnt need that help from the racket (i have to change because of pain on my elbow :( , and i really like the feel and softness of the gravity) Greetings from Chile!

  • @TennCom

    @TennCom

    Жыл бұрын

    Yeah, I put on a leather grip to increase the tail weight and this helped a lot. I don't think it will help with the flexiness issue, as you would have to add so much weight that the Gravity Pro becomes the better choice. I think the original Gravity was compared so heavily to the Clash (even though it played much better for advanced players) that Head decided that was the best direction for them to go with the Auxetic version. I don't disagree with the decision from a sales standpoint, but for my own game, I with they increased the stiffness instead of reducing it.

Yet a slower swing speed generic baseline shot seems to have more power with the extreme tour it doesnt make any sense

  • @TennCom

    @TennCom

    Probably there is something about the weight distribution on the Extreme that's really helping you extend your arm and lean into the shot which is why you are hitting cleaner with the ET. I've found the Radical to be more fogiving and powerful, especially on off-centre balls, as you mentioned.

    @TennCom hope you continue enjoying the radical mp. Leaded it up with a couple grams at 3 and 9 and like 0.5g at 12 and played my first match with it and had an absolute blast despite it being doubles rather than my much preferred singles. Its just so solid and stable, and encourages aggressive fast swings and creative shot variety in a way the ET for my game didnt. Definitely more powerful and better at redirecting pace than the ET for me aswell, the fact i can string looser whilst still maintaining control probably was a factor but the sweetspot is definitely bigger and the hoop more stable and solid.

    Funny you should say that, Tien. I play mostly with the Blade Pro for control and Blade v6 for power. I bought the Radical MP as an experiment but am selling and sticking with the Blades. The Radical isn't bad, and I did give it a fair shot by trying different string setups, but for me it's just not as good as the Blades. The odd thing is, I prefer the feel and sound of the Radical (and I love an old Radical XT MP in my bag), but I win a whole lot more points with the Blades because I don't make errors and I hit closer to the lines. The new Radical MP just does not promote consistency in my hands, for whatever reason.

    I only hit with the Boom for a few minutes about 8 months ago so I can't help you too much. The Gravity MP has a really weird weight distribution with a recoil weight below 150, on average, which seems to work better for shorter players around 5 feet tall based on the data I've read on this racquet. I've spoken with some other content creators about this racquet and the consensus is that its very hard to time your shots due to the weight distribution. I think this is the reason I was hitting it late and hurting my wrist with it. So if you are shorter, its great and super comfortable. If you are taller, you might want to stick with the Boom or try the Extreme MP, a racquet I really enjoy.

    In play testing the two, the thicker beam of the tour and the tighter string pattern made the Tour much better IMO. And...the 305 weight was much better for me over the 315 of the pro which was just too much and harder to maneuver. Plus, if you want a bit more swing weight it's easy to add a bit of lead tape to the top of the Tour to give some extra plow through if needed.

And I think that these two differnt but very equal series are the most special on market right now! The feel is unmatched on bouth in the market. Review would be so great because Prince is a realy competetore to the Gravity!! Great Job, go on like that!!👍👍

    I think 59RA is too low for a lot of players. In a 95sqin to get extra precision, maybe, but the 100 feels so vague with that low of a flex.

  • @LarzB

    @LarzB

    Жыл бұрын

    @@TennCom yeah understand what you're saying. A 100 inch ² string bed is already more forgiving and more trampoline. If you like very crisp rackets the flex should be at least at 64 with a 100. I personally prefer my flex to be in the range of 59 to 64. Rackets in medium or even high flex get muddy because of the aggressive dampening. Then i prefer less dampening in combination with a lower flex.

    depends on how you interpret power. Depth comes more easily with the VCORE. Off-centre power is best with the Radical for my game (among the samples I've tried). One centre I think the EZONE can generate the highest ball speeds.

    @@tbluefuck I think that an intermediate player would feel more comfortable with the EZONE 98 (its makes you think you are good) but I dont think that person would actually play better with the EZONE. The Radical "feels" harder to use because theres more vibration, but I found it it be more stable and forgiving under pressure. The Radical really lets you know when you've screwed up, and the EZONE kind of sweeps it under the rug, but in reality, I dont think they are that different. If that makes any sense at all.

    @@TennCom Could you possibly test a frame released since the standard Gravity MP Auxetic painted version was released... just to verify whether maybe the lay-up was tweaked as companies are said to do sometimes after intro of prototypes? Thanks... I'm enjoying hitting the Gravity MP 360+, Speed MP Auxetic, and Prestige MP-L Auxetic head-to-head now and trying to settle on a winner. So far I'm probably playing enjoying the previous Gravity MP best, just looking for a set-up that offers the best pop. The Auxetic in both the Speed Pro and MP was definitely an upgrade vs 360+ IMO.

    Auxetic version of head racquets feels empty to me. I have played tennis for 8-9 years, and i unconsciously have a habit of 'listening' to racquet feedback after each hit to better my next hits. I have an auxetic speed mp, and i can never hit consistently. it gives no feedback, like you don't know which part of the racquet you just hit the ball with. No likey :(

    The Radicals are definitely the least Auxetic racquets in Heads lineup. They are very loud on court and vibrate more than anything I've tried except for the Diadem Elevates. If you like a slightly higher pitch for sound, the Radical might actually work well for you.

    I wonder if Head is doing silent updates mid cycle. Like initial measurements will be off the first few batches, which will also go to reviews. So if people complain about something related to stiffness, they could easily update the layup to fix the problems
