Where did these "facts" about the attack on Moldova come from? Lukashenko didn't say a word about it, just pointed to a map with various regions around Ukraine. It's a pity, I thought that at least somewhere there is a semblance of objective news, and not another yellow press

On that *map* there was a red arrow starting from Odessa and stretching & pointing towards Transnistria/Moldova. Just like the *rest* of the attack-arrows Lukashenko was presenting there. This news is old (from March I think). *Also:* 《 _"Major General Rustam Minnekayev, _*_acting commander of Russia's Central Military District,_*_ said on Friday that Moscow plans to establish full control over the Donbas region and southern Ukraine, as part of the "second phase" of its military operation._ ❗ _He also claimed that control of southern Ukraine would give Russia _*_a gateway to the breakaway Moldovan region of Transnistria,_*_ where there are "facts of oppression of the Russian-speaking population.""_ - DW: "Russia eyes route to Trans-Dniester: What do we know?", Apr 2022 》 This is not speculation, it's a declared objective, like the anchor mentioned.

yes. ukraine is now preparing for the attack in the south that is starting in the next days. the russians are deploying more forces now. however, ukraine now has some himars in the south now and with their long range, they are very effektive to destroy ammunition depots and command centers. if russia is continuing to add more forces and equipment there, they will also lose more. the defense in this area is pretty solid. this could now be a very decisive time how the war could unfold/end. if russia is practically throwing a huge amount of forces and equipment in that meatgrinder, they could bleed out there. russia also wants to capture the south to protect crimea. if that fails, their forces in crimea will be weakened too. i hope that all the modern weapons on ukrainian side will grind up the russians fast.

Corruption is an important aspect to fullfill before being accepted in the EU. Visited moldova and north macedonia this year. As a tourist we can observe this at their borders(corruption). Moldovian officers, big salute to them. Very professional. In north macedonia, they asked my tour guide for under table money. My tour guide refused to pay. They started finding fault in my passport, our car etc (there were 2 other european nationality in the car. I was an easy target to give problems as i was a coloured asian)..when all was in order they had no choice to let us go..but that 1 hour of hell made me realise a corrupted country at all levels can be seen clearly by a tourist at immigration check points and police in public areas..in moldova i did not get that vibes..in north macedonia it is similar to many corrupted asian, african and south american countries i have been to. So its about time EU accepts moldova!!!

There are many nations online waiting for inclusion to the EU with absolutely no military might. And only longing for military cover. The EU will be left violating its own articles of non expansion. Interesting indeed are the times we live in. While we wait n watch, the world is being turned upside down.

His wives side of the family was a bit scared of getting broken into the cars, they insisted we park them inside their garage over night. One policeofficer reminded me to switch on the light while driving during day, stupid rules. One bridge that was beeing built for the last 10years and never finished due to corruption, still the population is nice to german visitors, had a nice talk about ww2 with a old grandma. Their public likes it when you treat the "north" part in their countrys name extremly silent. I would still prefer macedonia over moldova, before that conflict in ukraine, i never heard of moldovas existance, moldova is further away from the EU than Kosovo, everyone knows Kosovo. When I was taking War Preparedness courses in the Soviet Union we had many maps like this one called "theoretical exercises". They would begin something like this: "This and that country in Europe has launched a 2-prong invasion of the Soviet Union" or "is planning an in invasion of Soviet Union, main battle groups located here and here". I don't know what theoretical exercises they play in modern Belarusian MOD, but I'm pretty certain that whoever slipped one of those maps to Lukashenka by accident is sorely regretting it by now. Other than that, I'm rather certain that Putin would not make Lukashenka privy of his long reaching war plans as early as March, so Moldova can breathe easy.

Article 42 of the Treaty on European Union forms the basis of the Union’s Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP). While most of its clauses focus on improving the military capability of the member states and implementing the CSDP, Article 42(7) is more ambitious. This is a mutual defence clause that obliges all member states to render aid to any other member state that becomes a victim of armed aggression on its territory. In this regard, it is very similar to Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty, which establishes the principle of collective defence and the idea that an attack against one member state in Europe or North America is an attack against all.

If Odessa falls, then transnistria will automatically go to Russia. They are basically longing for that since 3 decades. After that Moldova is a low hanging fruit. But in my opinion, Russia also has the option to turn east towards deeper parts of Ukraine instead of turning to the west to Moldova. Moldova remember borders a NATO member Romania. I doubt Russia will risk spooking NATO. I am pretty sure it will go Odessa -> transnistria -> Ukraine if the Russians strategiests are sane enough. After getting all of the Ukraine east of transnistria, they will turn west to Moldova. But that scenario lwill take years to happen. Capturing half of Ukraine is not easy given their current momentum.

For Transnistria, the region's origins can be traced to the Moldavian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, which was formed in 1924 within the Ukrainian SSR. During World War II, the Soviet Union took parts of the Moldavian ASSR, which was dissolved, and of the Kingdom of Romania's Bessarabia to form the Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic in 1940. The Moldavian SSR, organised by a decision of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on 2 August 1940, was formed out of a part of Bessarabia (taken from Romania on 28 June, after the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact) and out of a part of the Moldavian ASSR roughly equivalent to present-day Transnistria. Transnistria was a product of NAZI-Germany's and USSR's Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. Just on a sidenote: Europeans including Russians do have a common fate: two World Wars. It's a byproduct of the UK and Poland defense agreement that only specified Nazi Germany and it watered down USSR's Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact component

Just like the *rest* of the attack-lines Lukashenko was explaining there. This news is old (from March I think). *Later:* 《 _"Major General Rustam Minnekayev, _*_acting commander of Russia's Central Military District,_*_ said on Friday that Moscow plans to establish full control over the Donbas region and southern Ukraine, as part of the "second phase" of its military operation._ ❗ _He also claimed that control of southern Ukraine would give Russia _*_a gateway to the breakaway Moldovan region of Transnistria,_*_ where there are "facts of oppression of the Russian-speaking population.""_ - DW: "Russia eyes route to Trans-Dniester: What do we know?", Apr 2022 》 And it's not the only time they state this objective, *on TV.*

What many fail to realize was that both France and Britain were preparing to go to war. After WW1, both disarmed heavily. Then the Great Depression crushed everything. When Germany began to get aggressive, they began to rapidly rearm but they needed time. Germany was already having the military power built up. They didn’t have that. So they began to stall for time. That’s essentially what happened.
