[Graphic] Hook in Seal's Eye

At first, the OCN rescuers lost sight of the target, he had escaped in the middle of a dense group of seals. One seal's loss is another one's second chance - Denzil spotted a seal with a silver fishing hook it her eye. Fishing hooks are not worse than our usual fishing line and plastic entanglements, but they are incredibly painful and they are usually very graphic, especially in a case like this one, when the hook goes right through the animal's eye.
Once she is safely restrained in the net, the rescuers regroup, get their tools and make a plan to remove the fishing hook. They need to be careful, she is in pain and they have to work very close to her sharp teeth and she puts up a big fight. In a perfect world, they would have sedated her and taken her to a seal rehab station, but there are no such facilities in the country, and they have to do their best on the spot. They remove a very bent hook from her head, and she gets to jump back into the water. 🦭

You are simply incredible heroes! This rescue was really brave, difficult and very dangerous for your hands. Although the seal lady was initially quite wild and wanted to escape, she was strangely (thank God!) calm and incredibly brave during the most difficult part. Watching this hook being pulled made everyone's insides hurt, their faces contort with strain and their stomachs tingle unpleasantly. Brrrr ... the poor seal! But now she is free and very happy! ❤
