    Thank you for this very well written and articulately presented documentary! I found this most informative and helpful. But most importantly, I think, is the quality of the narration and the video selected. I wish all documentaries were produced to this high level! Many thanks, once again!

    Great video ! Very informative and excellent production..love these types of educationally oriented videos..I guess with a product as large and heavy as granite it doesn't matter if you have steel toe shoes or flops on or helmets or safety glasses..if there is an accident with the granite your screwed the first time no matter what..

    In all honestly, they probably used metal chisels. Rudimentary as they may have been, I’m sure a select few people (possibly just one) knew of some way to smelt using fire. They had clay, and that’s all you need. You take iron ore, most likely imported or from a quarry just like the limestone, and refine it and pour it into fired clay molds. I think a few hundred years is enough time for one of them to mess around with a smoldering fire and some raw iron to find that the iron melts if it’s hot enough.

  • @jeanladoire4141

    @jeanladoire4141

    Жыл бұрын

    @@knack8284 hello, French blacksmith here, that can't be the case. First of all, iron processing wasn't discovered until thousands of years later, stone, copper and perhaps bronze were more common during the creation of the pyramids. (the only iron item found from that period was a meteoritic iron dagger). No, you can't melt iron in a clay crucible with some fire, it doesn't work like that. First of all, if you don't know how to make iron from stone, you don't have anything to melt, then melting iron was pretty much unknown until the early industrial revolutions, so the 15th century in Europe, with exceptions in india, the wootz steel for exemple. Now beacause we don't know how to make something with traditional tools anymore doesn't mean it's ridiculous. I mean nowadays if you knew the amount of people who truly believe iron tools are worthless because it's not made of 135Cr3 steel tempered for 2 hours in a modern kiln... The thing is, if traditional blacksmithing taught me something, it's that tricks makes all the difference. For exemple, huge granite rocks were split by using dry wood wedged in holes, and then soaked with water so the expanding wood would just crack the stone. Chisels made from copper or stone will need constant repairs, at least if we use them the way we do nowadays. There might be techniques to preserve the edge of your tools that we don't know anymore. Keep in mind that wheels weren't even used during the building of the pyramids, they used round poles placed underneath the stones instead. When you don't have the technology to make stuff for you, you still have your brain and your knowledge to still get away with seemingly impossible tasks.

Just some simple instrumental New Age music will do.”😖 The music does improve 4:13 into the video.☺️ However, 8:25 as the truck is driving out of the the factory with the finished products; some sort of guitar folk music begins playing.😣
