Pizza Hut was a real hangout in the 80's. The pizza was way different back then. The garlic toast was to die for, the salads were incredible. And yes, the juke box made it elite. Spent many a days there with my friends.

When our granddaughter was trying to talk, we called ourselfs Grandma & Grandpa. She couldn't say it and it came out as Mawmaw and Pawpaw. When our Grandson came along, he called us the same. We loved it , and 23 years later we are still Mawmaw and Pawpaw. Being Grandparents is a wonderful thing. We have a sign over our kitchen door that says Pawpaw and Mawmaw's Place.

That has a different meaning today than back then.

Every baby is a blessing, but getting grandkids, it is hard to explain how much your heart expands. You grandparents might just get christened with your names by your grandboys. 💙 Katie, may God bless you and your baby every step of the way. He’s sure been good to you by gifting you with supportive, loving parents and your sis. God is good, all the time.

I still have around 1500 juke box records with the song tags with each record. Been trying to sell them but no luck yet. George Jones use to come in and eat breakfast a lot with me. Then the grandkids came along and the names stuck. 😂. You won’t care what they call you just so long as they’re calling. ❤ Mom (80) and I (53) love watching your family - and we have to watch together. I caught here watching the other night and called her out. When we were growing up, my brother was a collector of 45" records. There was great music in the 60s and 70s. When he got married, he decided that he wanted a juke box because he knew that his children would enjoy it. He found one for sale, bought it, and put it in his family room in the basement. He loaded some of those 45s, and the rest is history. There was always a lot of dancing and singing through the years. Sadly, he died 6 years ago of ALS, a horrible disease. The juke box was silent for awhile but now his son's family is enjoying it. Tipper, I wish you, Matt, and the girls a Blessed Christmas. Thank you for sharing your life with us. God bless you.

I always called a lady Miss Huckleberry until I was in high school. She always came by and picked huckleberries with Mom ever since I was little and I thought that was her name.

Some Pizza Huts in this area had individual juke boxes at each booth. Shoney's was a big draw too. Thanks for sharing

First words from my 3 yr old grandson to my husband was 'Poppy!'..now everyone calls him that, even the men at work lol...I will forever be Granny...I always wanted to be a granny like a little old lady i knew that lived next to my aunt and wore bonnets and aprons, they called her Granny Dickens.

My family always quilted out of necessity, but those quilts were always so beautiful. My sister quilts for her grands now. It's a wonderful craft. Our oldest grand son always called us Papa and Grandma, but 10 years later when our 2nd one came he called us Papa and Baaga,. Now all 4 of our grandsons call me Baaga even our oldest. I had never heard Baaga before but he couldn't say grandma and Baaga stuck. You'll love whatever they call you. 😄❤🙏

My grandson is 3 1/2 years I have been his babysitter since he was 6 weeks old. And when talking to him about myself or my husband I would say "ganmama and gandadday". Then when he started talking, out of the blue, he started calling us "Oma and Opa". Lol We have no idea where that came from. We're not german/dutch. But we love it! He now has a baby brother that will be 3 months old on Christmas, and we assume he will call us the same thing. But you just never know. Happy holidays, and congratulations on the 2 grandbabies on the way.

Yes, the pizza parlor was the place to hang out when I was a teen... kids would walk over at lunch from the high school. And as kids, a birthday party at the pizza parlor was a big deal and when I was in college.. they had a pizza hut station in the cafeteria that was quite popular too. Never heard of sugar in grilled cheese but a fancy restaurant I ate at had sliced pear in the grilled cheese sandwich.. which added a sweetness to it.

Enjoyed this! Pizza Hut here in eastern WV was quite the place for us and our girls in the 80’s. They had “Book It” for school kids. If you read so many books in school, you got a certificate for a free little pan pizza. One of our daughters had her 10th bd party at PH. On grandparent names, our little granddaughter calls us Granna and Bop. Bop is her version of Pop and it’s stuck. He loves it! Have a very Merry Christmas!

Greetings from Pennsylvania. Matt looks like he has lost weight. My mother in-law had a big wood burning cook stove in her kitchen. We made plenty of grilled cheese sandwiches on it.we cooked right on griddle surface. I would buy the groceries for a meal specially to cook on the cook stove. My wife Sandy always liked my cooking, Fried green beans and fried potatoes & onions was always delicious cooked on it. I had the most wonderful mother in-law. Each week I planned a Mel to cook at her home, we had some of the most wonderful meals and wonderful memories,.Family life has always been important to me. Anyhow as I said I was blessed having such a wonderful mother in-law.
