There has been alot of ethnic cleansing and relocating ethnic groups under Stalin, that's how my German ancestors ended up in Kazakhstan, were my parents grew up with Koreans, Turks, Russians, Ukranians, Kazhaks, Usbekis, etc. This is not comparable to "My great great great grandparents visit Italy once so I'm totally Italian" kind of bs

I don’t mean this badly, but you’re none of those nationalities. You’re (I’m guessing) an American. I’m born in the Netherlands but my mom is (fully) Korean and my dad is Belgian. I can’t honestly say I’m Korean because I’m not. I speak Korean reasonably and like Korean food, but when I go to Korea.. I can feel I’m not the same as them. I’m Dutch because that’s the culture I grew up in. Besides, the US is the only place I know where it’s acceptable to say you’re Korean just because a small percentage of your heritage is from there. In every other country in the world that is seen as ridiculous.

You’re genetic make-up is 50% korean. That’s not nothing 👀 I get the sentiment that you don’t FEEL like other koreans (especially from Korea) You grew up with the Dutch culture and that shapes you. But to brush it off like you’re not korean at all, seems weird to me. But I see a lot of Belgian people say this 😅 but the thing is, you do inherit so much of your being from your ancesters (your character, they way you look, move/talk, talents,..) you’re just unaware of it. If their souls could hear you say you’re only Dutch, they’d probably feel sad, lol. You’re connected in a way that may be invisible, but it’s there. Don’t deny that part of yourself. Maar ik ken heel veel mensen die zoals jou denken en eerlijk gezegd vind ik het best jammer!

You are confusing ethnicity for nationality. She's talking about her ethnicity.
