    Your going to get sued if you keep teaching that . What your teaching is extremely hard to applicate , there is a lifetime of mental preparation just to get you to the point of discipline needed to become so fast by nature;it’s not a reality for all ,maybe one out of a lot and I mean a lot of people . And that one has no life ,other than what you are teaching . You are utilizing double the energy and leaving yourself vulnerable , let alone your students . Self defense is to improve the quality of life for people , mentally and physically. Another thing your not causing enough harm to the clavicle to stop a serious attacker,nor are you going to take out an eye with that cane . Then to add sarcasm to the situation with a kiss ! I tell you this , that attitude alone will disqualify you from recruitment into combat effective units . When your preparing your students from experience there is no humor only concern to bring your students home alive , be careful Sir ! When I’m instructing,my attention is on my students ,the body language ,attention span , facial gestures , lateral eye movements . I’m embedding technique into there nature ,those concerns leave no room for your humorous mentality . Drew Fuentes A.T.L. International Executive Protection

    I have years of jujutsu/hapkido/TKD training, though not to your level. I get what you're saying, especially for America because there are some many sh*theads with guns out there I have also been a firearms instructor and deputy, and competed in USPSA/IDPA for almost 30 years (state IDPA production/SSP champ...whoopee! 😎). I have a CCW permit and carry at times (Glock, of course!). BUT-one can't always carry, and definitely not in all states or cities and never OCONUS. I want to broaden my skills like this, especially for travel when I can't CCW. Plus, I think that for too many gun-toting knuckleheads, this saying applies: "When all you have is a hammer (gun), everything looks like a nail (something to be shot)." You just can't shoot every threat, and in fact IMO in about 80-90% of situations, you'd better NOT shoot. I prefer to have more tools in my toolbox, and will add a cane with training soon. FWIW

He put them down in seconds, and several went to the hospital. Short staff, long staff, escrima...many styles use stick weapons. The cane is an evolution to it, and one you can carry legally.

    Many years ago when I had hair and drank I made my living as a bouncer in Amarillo Texas at joints on the Boulevard. I was taught to fight with a pool que and pool bars. Slapping a drunk with the thin end of the que on the side of the knee would get them on the ground. The thing was to get them down, get them up and then get them out. We faught in pairs. One with the que the other with a pool bar. If the beligerant did not get the message your partner taped them on the too of the head with the pool ball. No timple hits as this could be fatal. Top of the head they would drop like a sack of potatoes. If somebody went stupid we woyld would be opening the exit doors with them an half a minute. Don't frequent these places any more so don't know if they still have bouncers. On a good Saturday night we would escort maybe a dozen drunks out. No body knew or understood the partner aspect of bouncing. Tying into a drunk by yourself could get you hurt.

  • @jamess.829
    @jamess.8295 жыл бұрын

    I watched the video and I read most of the comments. I have to think that the only way any of these moves would work is if you spent a great deal of time training and practicing. Next I have to agree that an attack is going to come so quickly that you are lucky to get out of the way and simply swing your cane to keep some distance between yourself and an attacker. After that it is going to be whatever you can strike or simply keep him at bay. A cane is a good weapon that does not draw any unwanted attention. You don't need to actually need it and if you do then for sure it is going to be difficult to use it in a real life situation.

  • @Dylan-wx7ru

    Without having too much experience, I do feel like there's some stuff that needs to be talked about. That double leg shin sweep by getting around behind them is bs, plain and simple. Who is going to stand there and let you crouch behind them? Nobody. But the strike to the shin? That's effective. Just imagine how much that would hurt. The joint locks are all viable, but impractical. They are eacrima teqniques and most likely you won't need the full lock, the shattered arm or shin will be sufficient. In conclusion, I would say that this demo falls victim to the classic "let me show the flashy shit" that all demos do. Don't call the cane fighting system fake though, because if you replace cane with baseball bat or sword, you can see it being incredibly dangerous, so the cane is also a great weapon. But don't try to crouch behind your oponant and sweep the leg, that's fucking stupid

    Your oversimplification shows your limited mental abilities. You seem to ignore things like feints and two-armed techniques...(one to fake, one to strike). "If you were able, you wouldn't even nerd a cane period" Some folks AREN'T 100% ABLE, or else they wouldn't be using a cane. Some of us are elderly, or permanently (if slightly) damaged. Both of my shoulders are weakened from years of abuse and the right one from 3 rotator-cuff tears, none of which were ever healed properly. Some folks use them FOR REAL, (i.e. assist to walk) and using them for self-defense is a bonus. Educate yourself, learn to think a bit more broadly, and then put your ego back on the leash, OK?

    The canes were originally given to disabled people in hospitals in New York back in 2003. Many of techniques used have been around for decades. You need to practice basic approach to protect yourself with this cane. You can't do a side kick to the knee instead snap the cane to their knee can bring them down.

    I'm a martial artist myself, I know you might laugh at this but I'll have seen the karate kid about 10 times, and I believe too and about preserving life. The only time you should ever take a life, or maybe anybody I'll think about it you shouldn't hurt anyone or break their arm or gouge them or doing anything that's going to cause them any hurt, if you can avoid it now of course injuries in a fight can't be stopped this is true, people are going to get black guys busted lips, but to go out of your way intentionally in a fight you are going to have injuries it can't be avoided now to take a cane or any type of martial art to have an intention to intentionally just figure someone name them so they can't walk away from it. And I've been in plenty of fights myself alone if you hit someone hard enough you dominate the fight and they give up, let me say that again and they give up think about it sometimes people get where they have enough. But you take a weapon to intentionally disfigure them, then you're wrong. And I'm right and I know it. And I know those people is going to read this who's going to agree with me who agrees? You can win a fight, and cause minimum damage. And both of you walk away. Now the only time, and I mean the only time understand me because reading that you can't hear my voice and you can't see my anger, understand the only time you have a right and it's not necessarily a right to take someone's life as if your life is in jeopardy and even then. If you beat him up and he gives up and then you decide to just kill him that's murder. So to all you wash the artist I pray to God God plays on your conscience cuz you better not decide after it's over with to just kill it cuz that's murder. Don't let your anger take over and you end up killing somebody in your regret. Then you deserve to go to jail you deserve to go to prison. I want these teachers who think this way to rethink it because you can want to fight, you can't save your life and preserve life and both of you walk away. The last thought think about this carry two or three cell phones hide your money on you somewhere else. Anyone who's willing to commit a crime with enough or gun. Or willing to do anything so unless you feel that your life is in danger better for you to comply and someone getting out of there car and being nothing with you stay in your car lock your doors tucked down if you have to and put it in gear and then speed off and duck down they might miss. And drive and go to the police station or call the police as you're getting towards police station or some deputies. Go home and call the police and tell them what happened. No one in any more shots or any type unless they think their life is in danger even if it is in danger has no right really to take anyone's life only God Almighty has that right. So don't be judge jury and execution, the American people and movies have made a joke out of martial arts and what it stands for which one of you have a right to take life. Why is your life more valuable . I'm trying to get you to understand be careful what you do even if you think you're right, you're wrong besides this man's preaching we have bad loss maybe but we have lost to protect people. Why should that person or did you wrong not deserve to have his life. Maybe he was on drugs maybe it's drinking, so if you get in a fight or someone's your victim of a crime you can survive by doing what they tell you to do. Maybe they won't kill you you think about this you kill them you're going to have to live with it. So you want me to say it's right , it's not so I'm not going to agree with you. Think about what you do before you decide to take a life. Now you might only have a few seconds to make that decision. But whatever decision you make you're going to have to live with for the rest of your life. Now if you defend your life and your family's life and the guy gives up , can you kill him you're a murderer, you deserve prison time.

    The problem with weapons like cane, stick, baton, and bat is that it's okay if you just use it to scare away your opponent, but once you hit an opponent with it and the opponent isn't hit really hard, he will get angry, rush in, takes the weapon from you and hit you with it.

    That same argument can be made for any method of self defense if one is not quick and hasn't practiced the technique or skill enough to be effective. No opponent is going to just let you get away with a soft strike or a weak grappling technique. Then again, street thugs are not usually trained in martial arts, are they? So, maybe just a show of force or resistance is enough to discourage the cowardly S.O.B., who knows, do you?

As you should know, most martial arts are not practical in the street or combat, which is why Krav Maga, Comrac Bas, or hand-to-hand combat that uses only large body movements are the time tested systems of choice.

    here's a questions then: If you can do all this then what are you doing with a cane in the first place? If you are caught on camera doing these techniques I have a feeling the courts are going to be very curious as to why you even had a cane on you in the first place. It sucks but the courts ARE out to get us. They'll use this against you. It's always the good folks that get screwed by the courts and law makers. It's not like criminals follow the laws. It's a sad day when you cant use anything to assist you in a defensive situation that you DID NOT GO LOOKING FOR. Idc if the guy attacking you has access to a weapon or not. Not everyone is combat trained Law Enforcement or Military. We should be allowed to use any assistance we want to defend ourselves at that point , be it a cane, a knife, a machete, sword, gun, i dont honestly give a damn. This world has been flipped on it's head and nothing makes sense anymore!

    Stick fighting is indeed at the base of using a cane for self defense, but use of the hooked handle with the pointy end is an addition that is well worth learning. Kali sticks are straight and totally lack this ability. Furthermore, the whole concept of using a walking cane for self defense is based on the fact that you can walk around with it in public for a seemingly innocent and legitimate purpose. Try walking around town with a couple of Kali sticks and explain to a cop what they are for.

  • @VestigialHead

    @VestigialHead

    +Eyal Levy Yep I agree that a cane is easier to walk around with unobtrusively. The problem with studying with cane masters is they seem to suffer from the same issue that a lot of TMA suffer from. They show lots of slow setup positions and techniques and include some drills. But they do not seem to encourage full speed testing. Kali and Escrima often have much more realistic sparring so will greatly increase your skill with the weapon. Any techniques using the hook are likely to be low percentage techniques so should be avoided in a dangerous situation. Stick with simple strikes from varying heights and angles. You may be able to pull off the hook techniques if you practice the cane for 5000 hours + but who has the time especially on top of other martial training.
