It wasn't Christmas without this on cartoon network. This and ANnabelle's wish. It's hilarious. One of my friends is a 911 dispatcher and last week she actually had a call, that the guy on the other end seemed to be waiting his whole life to say... "You're not gonna believe me... but a reindeer attacked my grandma. My grandma got ran over by a reindeer." My friend was trying so hard not to laugh while she handled the call but when she got home she was dying laughing. (Grandma was okay!)

This is always my problem with christmas movies that propose Santa is real ... like if he does exist and we're framing this as the real world where no one but little kids believe in Santa ... WTF do the adults even think is happening? This issue always just gets ignored but it bothers me as it feels like a pretty significant plot hole.

Yknow wut? It's my favorite Christmas movie and I'm not even joking. It hits such a spot for me- played every yr on CN, sometimes multiple times a day, and it was such a weird movie that my bro and I would laugh at whenever it played. The hula scene was the king of pointless cutaways for us, and all the questionable moments of writing just made us laugh. Not just a holiday tradition for us, we'd watch it by choice over the course of December, even on Christmas day. Sure, Elf and Home Alone are infinitely better and strike the chord of "legitimate" holiday movies for me... but this movie brings me back like no other has.
“Grandpa’s Gonna Sue the Pants Off of Santa” should have been higher on the rank tbh
*reads the title **opens the rifle safe Alright Just Stop you've gotta make a really good case that THIS is the worst ever. Worse than Rapcity Street Kids. Please go on. After watching: Good. Yes. It is terrible. And we love it. >:3

Listen - I always thought that ‘Grandpa is Gonna Sue the Pants off of Santa’ was made just for this special. I found out last year that I was very wrong.
@williamdrum9899

That seems oddly specific
I remember watching this movie when I was in 1st grade, the entire class was laughing by the fact that it's instead of it being about celebrating Christmas it's about an old lady getting ran over by Santa, I don't think it was awful but it was definitely a so bad it's good cult classic.
You gotta admit that 'Grandma's Gonna Sue the Pants off of Santa' is weirdly catchy
The song grandma got run over by a reindeer holds a special place in my heart for the absolute shit show it caused between my grandmother and my mom. My parents are divorced and my mom hated my grandmother so when we heard the song on the radio she had said before she wished it was my grandmother in the song. 11 year old me thought that was really funny and told my grandmother, neither of them found it that funny then
We had this on VHS. Grandpa used to put this on every christmas for us kids, and grandma always sang along with the songs.
This was basically a Christmas version of Bee Movie’s court plotline, and it’s weirdly charming in the exact same way as Bee Movie.
You have until Christmas Eve to post an apology video for the slander you uttered about this classic or you'll be hearing from Morgan & Morgan.
you just reminded me of this movie’s existance and the overcomplicated plot steamrolled itself back over my brain
I remember this Christmas special. We used to watch it every year.
Rudolf was based off a book, which is why it’s so coherent. Even without that, the song has a story so making a movie expanding on it is much easier and works better
This is like The Room of Christmas specials. You can't believe the choices that were made in this piece of art.
This movie is bat shit Insane like all good Christmas movies. Think of one good Christmas movie and tell me if it has a normal plot. Yeah didn’t think so!
I Love how you say that there's an Aversion to conflict in the American subconscious.
I animated my own interpretation of this song a year ago in wonderful, horror film fashion.
why WHY did you have to reignite my memory of this now i cant get the song outta my head PLS SEND HELP!
I think this is a guilty pleasure you can watch around the holiday season.
I know it sounds strange, but its still a classic. It's one of those things its so bad its good.
I like it though I wondered if anyone would review this weird thing. Also, Cartoon Network hasn't aired this special since 2016
The only way I can think of as to how this special spiraled into madness is WB bought the rights and optioned it into a TV movie, didn’t give the writers enough time to write another draft of the story, sourced it’s animation to a Korean studio to get it done fast and cheap, and finally put the finished product out on constant repeats during Christmas seasons to make their money back.
11:31 finally, somebody else gets it. Every “ does this character exist or not“ argument is easily solved by the simple question, “Did you put that thing there?” “No…” “then Santa must have” Santa is real, end of discussion. Unless it was explained that Santa Claus can affect peoples memories, and make them believe they were the ones who got the gift, and are keeping up an illusion, this existential question should be easily answered.
It always seemed to me that Santa can know about every kid but not adults. Also isn’t it implied that the store is something that has been in their family for generations? Makes sense why they don’t want to sell. Also Mels plan was to ruin Grandmas reputation, small stores like that live and die by word of mouth
I remember my family used to watch this movie all the time every Christmas up until I was 14. Still wild they took this song about Grandma getting run down by one of Santa’s reindeer and turned it into a plot that gets Santa arrested for vehicular manslaughter only to be the fall guy for a cousin’s get-rich-quick scheme.
The funniest part of the movie is that the big business CEO at the end turns out to be a good person, wanting to buy the store so he can make it a chain. He apparently just never communicated this once when he was making his pitch.
I only like this special for nostalgic reasons. I used to watch it a lot when I was little with my grandma. She sadly passed away this July, and so now this special hits a bit differently for me now.
Can we appreciate that he got a law affirm to sponsor a review of Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer?
Man this a hood classic
This is the greatest bad Christmas movie ever! By the way, I always found it creepy that the characters only had 8 fingers. I know it's common in animation for characters (even human characters) to have 8 fingers, but these designs are realistic enough to make it look uncanny to me.
first Santa breaks into homes, now he commits vehicular manslaughter
Dude THIS IS MY FAVORITE CHRISTMAS SPECIAL HAS ALWAYS BEEN AND WILL ALWAYS BE
How could you this is one of my favorites during Christmas
This movie's existence is so bizarre that it's always wild how i forget about it until the next year's holiday

This movie is a meme for my sister, my cousin, my friend, and me. Also Daphne (Cousin Mel) is sus in this movie
this song traumatized me so bad because i loved my grandma that much. like the song brought me to tears when i heard it. 💀💀
As a 34 year old who didnt even grow up celebrating christmas or watching christmas movies? This is thankfully not the worst christmas special Ive heard or seen in the brief time Ive had to celebrate the holidays with my daughter. Its not good, but F A R from the worst.
We watched this special in a church I went to once as a kid and I haven't seen it since. So this special is like a weird fever dream for me.
Rudolph was a book before it was a song, before it was a Christmas Special
The YTP of this movie is iconic.
i cant believe a youtubers sponsor is an actual car accident law firm
Ironically, this first aired on Halloween.
You know what's funny, back in the day watching this special on the WB you could have seen a commercial for Morgan & Morgan while it was on.
You get extra points for the Sonic Adventure 2 footage when mentioning vehicular manslaughter.
_Grandma got run over by a honda_ _I think it was a hit called by the mob_ _people say "no way, that's fucking stupid"_ _but they let go the guy who did the job_
It would be fun if Multiple Animators made a Reanimated version of this movie like Shrek Retold! This movie has became such a meme over the years
Santa couldn't tell who Grandma was because she had amnesia. He read's peoples thoughts to know who they are
Turning a goofy song like Grandma got Run over by a Reindeer into a movie was doomed to fail.

My favorite part of the movie was when the lawyer said "if the beard fits, you must convict".

I remember the "Grandma Died by a Reindeer" YTP that was spawned thanks in part to this movie. Good times.
