Love the spring drive. I have 5, the latest being the manual wind Sunray sbgy003. The finishing and decorations on the 9R31 is very impressive for an entry level, perhaps, the best out there. It uses the same dual main spring architecture as the higher tier 9R02, though, the power reserve is lesser at 72 hrs vs 84 hrs. This is an improvement to the 7R14 used on the eichii II. Will get one of the 9R02 when they are cased in steel. It's also thinner and better finished than its predecessor 7R14. This is a game changer. Hope this latest innovation is used on the 9S next year. Interesting time ahead for GS.

I have the sbga085 (39mm black dial and less blingy) and it's a great watch, a perfect one watch collection which is it's main problem! It starves my other watches of wrist time. One of my favourite things which I saw on your video is when it runs out(hard to do as it has a >3 day power reserve!) But the initial winds make the second hand go really fast then after a couple of seconds it regulates. A great watch, love this bkue dial but prefer the 39mm and plain brushed bracelet

Hey Tim, great advice. Appreciate your videos as always. One note: I’ve noticed the same stuck (hot) pixels on a few of your videos lately. Might be time to replace that camera or have it serviced.

Got mine at Tokyo's Ginza Wako Store last week the sublime sweep of the seconds hand thanks to Spring Drive & the zaratsu polishing...just one of the few aspects that make Grand Seiko the greatest
