Don't be surprised that Amsterdam (Amstel Dam, Amstel rivier/river dam) has not real soul, nothing old about the city as everything is quite new just from around year 1600 and wealth from Indonesia has major role in building the water city. Even Carré, Concertgebouw, to Paradiso and Melkweg (Where Dutch actrice Carice van Houten, acted with Tom Cruise in Valkyrie, is always around) are not that haunting. Wow. I have studied architecture for over two decades and spent some time in Amsterdam for my senior thesis in architecture. Yet, I've never heard of the Amsterdam School. Better super late than never.

I think your point was that it was renovated in the Art Nouveau style? In any event, a great video like all from A'dam Calling. Is the roof area free to visit if you're not a guest? Is the hotel staff understanding if you just want to stroll through the lobby to admire things? I would take the tour but won't have a free Sunday.
