64 year year old hippie tells you no lie.....our music broke the stupid colour barriers and helped us all feel like brothers and sisters...alas those days are faded...but so glad young people as yourself are exploring new ( for you ) realms and eras of music. This music is raw, un-sampled ,straight up in your face and into your heart. Peace from Canada

The reason they (Grand Funk Railroad) are not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (Shame) is that (the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame) is owed by England/or people living in England, not by anyone in the U.S.A. And, you're not going to find one person in England that will admit that Led Zep. wasn't the best/hardest Rock band around. Neil Lenet was correct on Zeppelin manager shutting down Grand Funk Railroad. There played two songs and just started into their 3rd one when the power was shut off. Six months later they were put back on the tour as the opening (act once again) and Zeppelin's manager turned around and after two songs going into their 3rd song shut them down once again and took them off the tour again. This is 3 young men that wanted to play Rock n Roll and did it with soul and gave everything they had. Their Albums sound just like they did live. Donny Brewer (Drummer) and Mel (on bass) tricked Mark into signing a legal paper after they had a few drinks and then they voted (kicked) Mark out of the band after they did an appearance on "The Tonight Show". Then they had to hire 5 more guys to make up for what they lost with Mark Farner. The two original members still tour as Grand Funk but with 5 other guys and they don't come close to sounding like the original line-up!!!! While, Mark has his own band and sounds just like the original lineup, for the most part, some parts like when Don sang are different and done better I personally think. Mark was and will forever be the brains of this band. Two of three friends and they screwed one man over sad!!!! Mark wanted to do a 60 city tour of just the U.S.A. and Mel and Don would not do it with him. He (Mark) is like 75 maybe 76 now (2021) and still, tours still have the pipes and sound great. Was lead vocals for a tribute band of these guys but when they thru Mark out the other guys in my band walked. The Greatest Band ever in Rock n Roll Grand Funk Railroad. They opened the door for so many......................

These are 3 working-class young men who grew up in and around the Flint, Michigan area. They started out in what is referred to as 'garage bands', playing small local events. Once they broke through, there was no stopping them, they were SO talented, and those of us from that generation LOVED their intensity, passion, in their performances. They didn't have to resort to auto-tune, twerking or any other things some people do today. I wish some of the vocalists of today could perform with HALF of the energy and intensity these guys did.

Maybe the greatest live video ever recoreded on You Tube...These guys were just 18, 19 and 20 years old at this time....soon after this they were invited to the Atlanta Pop festival and then they rocketed up to be the hottest band in the world for the next 6 years or so selling out across the globe. They sold out Shea stadium in 72 hours in the days with no internet...an unheard of feat...and Mark was, and still is, GFR. He wrote 90% of the songs and music, was lead vocals, lead guitar, keyboards, harmonica and played bass and the drums too. Incredibly talented man as were Don and Mel. Craig was great when he joined too...my favorite band by far for me growing up in the 70's. Will always be #1 for me...

@@47tooter Oh ! I see ...but I remember back in the 70's and 80 's , I could walk into a bar...and have a few drinks and the entertainment was fantastic. I was at the bamboo club in Toronto back in 1980...having a drink with my friend and Petet Tosh came in to perform....free entertainment. Great time !

@@astelbele Yes , My girlfriend was a cousin of a guy who was a cook in Worc. Ma. And he told my girlfriend that the Rolling stones were going to play " Unannounced " On Thursday afternoon in the small 200 seat restaurant he worked at. Well, I didn't believe her And Thursday night a buddy of mine told me he had just seen the Rolling Stones while dining at that restaurant in Worc.
