I'm a GFR fan from the 60's n 70's. Mark, Don and Mel breathed life into this band. Don's drums were the heart beat pounding in my chest. Mel's bass moved every muscle in my body and down my spine. Mark was the blood and oxygen and together they all breathed life into the magic that was Grand Funk Railroad. Would be nice to see them all play together and bring the magic that is GFR come to life again.💖🧚‍♂💫

Yes, it would, but one of the bandmates played on Marks good, honest nature and got Mark to agree to give him all the credit for writing "We're An American Band song for himself, (they co-wrote it). It hit #1 and made millions. He left the band with the money. I can't remember which bandmate. It's been 45 years since this happened.

I was the annoying little sister back then and would drive around with my sister and her husband, then boyfriend, and this was always playing on an, (get ready for this), 8 track player in his car. This was one of their very favourite bands. I didnt appreciate it too much then but I sure do now. Their cover of Locomotion gives it a whole new life. I also remember buying a 45 of We're An American Band and I thought I was so cool because it was bright red. Yes the beginning of fancy Vinyl. LOL LOL My sister passed back in 2010 from breast cancer but right up to her final day she always love Grand Funk. I know she is with me every time I listen or watch these guys. Lets get it Judy😇😇🎶🎶🎸🥁🎹🎸🎸🎤

Well, I was already 19 in '75 and drove my all time favorite car, a '71 Cutlass SS, posi-traction, four barrel, duel exist, with a slap stick my boyfriend at the time, put in for me. Yup, you can tell I hung out with motor heads, all of my brothers and my boyfriend's friends...had a car club, then a van club in '76! Those were good times...we went to the Summer Nationals drag races every summer, in Englishtown, N.J! It was the whole weekend camping outside the race track in the fields there,so needless to say it was a huge party with a lot of crazy fun memories...I say this, because Grand Funk was always being played in the background it seemed. Sadly, I never got to see them in concert😢It was a good time to be alive!

What I admired about Mark Farner was that he was one of the very few guitar players worldwide that never had to have his eyes on his fingers and guitar while playing. Mark the extraordinaire guitarist doing his thing. Millions of guitar player's past, present and future have to ALWAYS keep their eyes on the guitar and their fingers while they play. Mark Farner Was Grand Funk Railroad With A Style All His Own.

Sorry, but I disagree... I'm a player myself, armature admittedly, but I've been playing almost daily since the late 70's and if you watch Mark closely, he is absolutely making sure he's on the mark. His great talent is that he can do his frontman shtick so well that it appears he never looks at his instrument. One of the most underrated frontmen as far as I'm concerned....

When I was still in HS, I went to Grand Funk Railroad concert in Wilkes-Barre PA. Mark Farner still had the band as a power trio at the time. The opening act was Blood Rock. I think they were from Texas. Never heard of the band ever achieving much success. Of course, GFR was from Michigan. My friend's father was a hot shot doctor in Wilkes-Barre, and he got tickets for us in like the third row. Right down in front. It's still the loudest concert I ever attended. My ears didn't stop ringing for 3 or 4 days afterwards. They played every song from the red album. We all had a really great time.

I forgot to mention my good friend, Paul Greasmer, whose father treated a couple of Paul's friends to the concert. Paul, if you're out there and, by chance you read this comment, I want to thank you again for treating us to the GFR concert. I've never been so close to a stage as I was at that concert. We all shared the opinion that Mark Farner put on an unforgettable show that night. During the second half of the concert, he took off his t-shirt; he looked like Tarzan playing an electric guitar. Those were some special times. In particular, I remember you doing the 40 yard dash in your high-top football spikes. You still had the fastest time of the day! The coaches were dumbfounded. I hope you kept it up, you would have made a great tight end.

I've been a serious fan from their start (I started playing because of them) and had the absolute pleasure of setting up backline gear for Mark in Texas in the late 90's and he could not have been kinder and more appreciative of us on the stage crew. R. & R. Hall of fame proves it's obsolescence every year these pioneers in music are neglected. I doubt Mark, Don or Mel bother themselves with the failure of Rolling Stone mag. publishers neglecting them. They know who they are, were and continue to be to us fans out here. Guys, I've got less hair than you but still LOVE playing along with you every time I get the need for real R&R music. Thanks for all these years together.

The high-enerigy of GFR;s playing is literally "off the charts". Even when they slow it down with some blues on Heartbreaker the energy doesn't lag. They were the hardest rocking band in the whole music business at their peak which is exactly what is on display here.
