Since these uploads are eighteen years old or so, it would be nicer to see something about how they all turned out in the following years.

I hadn't seen these. So I'm super happy to find them. But, YES!!! Wouldn't it be amazing if they went back to see all the houses they've filmed!?! GREAT idea!

Apparently they ran it as a bed-and-breakfast to help cover costs. Then they tried to sell it, but couldn’t, so they are living there, but planning to sell. From the internet: “Francis thinks the house is worth about £2 million today, twice their original investment. But they’ve waited 16 years to “earn” it.”

I don't understand how they underestimated the number of loads required to remove the site: is a uniform slope, you have the final height etc

I do not know the laws in the UK for construction near the sea, but in Brazil it is 30 mts from the high tide maximum reach, and in fact this is a military stipulation, although it is often ignored in Brazil, as you might expect. I wonder if the UK also have home security laws that affect building consent.

Yes, you have to pay for it. When we built our last house a neighbor, who was building a house, offered the dirt they dug out of their yard. We jumped at the offer and they dumped it in our backyard which was 16 ft below the front of yard. Our builder said it would have cost a lot if we had had to buy it. The people who gave us the dirt didn't have to pay to haul it away so it was a win/win deal.

It is a nice building, but I am struggling to think of it as a home. A little bit too sterile or clinical for my liking and it lacks being welcoming. It lacks a soul if that makes sense to anyone. So whilst this isn't my home and it isn't me that will be living in it, my thoughts are irrelevant really but I would not build a house like it either. I wonder how that house is faring 18 years on as my own home is far closer to the sea than them and removing sand from window frames is an endless battle! I do envy their 'high-tech' glass as the sea air does make them a cloudy white every time there is a strong wind, which by the sea, means many times a week.
