I've got a physical copy of this and it's one of my favourite items. Interesting how it's just GT2 with updated visuals. Shows how good the GT engine was on PS1.

@@siphobrisloks8133 GT4 lost that "arcade-y" vibe, and became more of a simulator. Gran Turismo up to the third installment wasn't really a sim unless you wanted it to be. GT4 was much more demanding.

There's so much unused content at 0:48 Almost every frame of footage seen is on a deleted track from the previous games, and contain cars that never were featured to time constraints and licensing issues. For the first few frames, there's footage of Grindalwald on the bottom right corner. It doesn't seem to have been updated graphically in any way, meaning it was likely just carried over from GT2 and scrapped quickly before any meaningful change could occur. The footage could also be an old model of Trial Mountain, as the track hadn't been featured in the earliest public demos. Due to how low-rez the intro is, it's nearly impossible to tell what cars are featured in that clip, but it looks to be a red Lancer and yellow NSX. Under the bumper of the Skyline for the first frames is footage of High Speed Ring. It isn't the Old Test Course, as it doesn't show the same elevation of that track in the clip. However, Old Test Course is seen later in the intro. The clip also shows 1 black, white, and yellow car, which I can't identify. The cars might be race modified. Moving on, the top of the screen briefly shows off the tunnel of Cote d' Azur. It looks a lot different. There's a lot more paint on the road, as well some additional lighting not seen on the final build. Continuing onward, many things change, there's a lot of clips of tracks that I have never seen before with cars that I've also never seen in-game. In the middle of this, I was able to spot a Celica race car on the top right. It was featured in GT2 and GT4 and onwards. A dark blue car is seen behind it. Footage of Tahiti Dirt Route 3 is seen, and it has updated textures that still resemblethe original track, before becoming Tahiti Circuit. The track doesn't have tarmac at the start, just like GT2. Footage of what appears to be Smokey Mountain North is seen, with updated textures. The track also had no road, and had more jumps, again like GT2. Another rally car is found too, it looks like the Subaru Rally Edition from GT1 and GT2, but it has a different shape to it. It may not be that car, but whatever it is wasn't in the final game. Immediately after the collage of gameplay, there's footage of an old school Skyline GT-R spinning out on an unfinished GT2-style Trial Mountain. For a few frames at 0:52, a Skyline GT-R racing model present in GT2 is seen, along with the '96 Supra GT from GT1 and 2 in its second color scheme. The track is also an old render for Deep Forest seen previous games. At 0:55, high resolution footage of the old Test Course track is seen, along with an unused Mobil 1 NSX and another nearly unidentifiable car tailgating behind a Raybrig NSX, which looks tk be a Vector M12 race car. The '96 Supra GT is seen drifting in the background. Before Old Test Course was scrapped, it seemed to have been heavily modified, having a new unique skybox seen at 0:58 and other graphical updates made. The footage stays on screen long enough to see it transition from one replay camera to the next, so a lot of work was done on it. A little bit after that, we can see a Toyota 2000GT present on Trial Mountain. It was readded in GT4. At 0:59, the Eclipse GT seen in games prior is driving on Seattle Circuit. As the screen pans out, a whole bunch of cars from old games are visable on different tracks, but I can't make out what they are or which one's they're driving on. The cars I did say was one of the Viper GTS-R's from GT2. This wasn't the red Team Oreca car seen in the final. I think I saw a Pulsar GTi-R as well. There was a brief moment where I made out an R32 Calsonic Skyline GT-R. At 1:01, I found some more shocking discoveries. A Vector M12 road car and a Tom's Supra are on SSR5, along with 2 other unknown cars, one red and one black. As the camera zooms out, the old Lancer Rally Car is again present on the right, driving on a completely unused track not seen in any other GT game. A few frames later, a clip of two cars, both *_race modified,_* are driving on Grand Valley East, which also was cut from the game. There's also some footage of Seattle Short Course at the bottom of the screen. The course is also very high resolution, and seems to have had a lot of work done on it, even though it was removed. I also found a Honda Prelude in the background of another clip of Trial Mountain. Because why not? So fellas, we need to start a petition and a GoFundMe so we can raid Polyphony Digital's headquarters and steal the beta and demo builds for all the early Gran Turismo games, and then copy them onto blank PS1 and PS2 discs, and mass produce them. *Let's see them unfinished game builds*

GT@'s HI-Def mode on a standalone disc.

An instant like for the PS2 boot up. So many memories. Really surprised at how good this still looks. They were really smart about where they spent their texture and polygon budget. Obviously the high-res scaling works but the textures and geometry is still pretty good.

Nice graphics for a 2000's game.

@JSHuiting I just tried it (on a actual Ps2). I think the physics/car animations, are more like gt3 than gt2. Also this prototype takes advantage of the dualshock 2 sensitive buttons (you can adjust the acceleration pressing the cross button more or less). GT2 obviously hasn't any button sensitivity, I seems to remember that even using the left analog stick for steering it works digitally as using the d-pad. In GT2000 everything is analog.

I love classic games like these , they have made the history

I was running Gran Turismo 3 on PCSX2 today....I must admit, the game still looks very good. Games from that era were much more "clean" looking that a lot of games today, which have tonnes of post processing ontop which makes games look too "busy".

If GT2 was for PC, this would be it!

I tried editing track strings with Cheat Engine, but it sends me right back to Seattle Circuit. This game doesn't really have hidden contents, unlike the future demos like the Store Volume II demo

This may be a demo disc, but it's nice. :)

In game files there are leftovers of special stage route 5 (you can use a 3d model viewer to see the track shape with verticed) but as far as we know, there are no actual track model! Gt2000 rules :D

GT2000 never released though. It was just a demo.

graphics are on the level of NFS Hot Pursuit 2 for PS2. truly good.

There is also a GT3 beta (GT2000) version with visual damage. I've seen only screenshots of this early version but I would be great if somebody would dig up the video footage.

This is played on an emulator, as stated in the description. (Widescreen hack, 8x native res etc)

This demo proves that they rendered racing scenes on a PlayStation 2 engine/hardware and then put as FMVs on Gran Turismo 1 and Gran Turismo 2 games.

It is very unlikely since GT1 came out in the late 1997, and i doubt the PS2 prototypes already existed. It is more likely that GT1 and 2 FMVs were done with super computers, like those Indigo workstations of the 90s.

They really outdid themselves with the soundtrack...

Seattle Circuit in GT Sport would be fucking amazing.
