The guys on here claiming this is a waste... Do you keep fixing your old flip phones? You still driving your first vehicle? These bins are obsolete. Very hard to move intact and just as hard to tear down and rebuild. You all notice they are vertical sheet bins? They haven't made bins like this in decades. The shell is the cheapest part of a bin. He was smashing the shell. The new bins will have horizontal sheets, better aeration systems, better unloading systems, better loading system

Dang tearing 10,000 bushel bins.... my dad would have flipped to have those, I remember back in the early 90's when my dad bought two big hoppers with aeration (They were Bader Hopper Bins for any SK folk out there) and he said they were gonna revolutionize our grain storage. And they were only 1800 bu each our big bins before that were Westeel 1650's. I know farming and farming practices have changed and to be productive and competitive you gotta stay with them. All the best, and hope the Harvest of 2019 fills and maybe even exceeds the capacity of the new bins!

Great Video. I liked his method of caving them in and then removing them. Looks like it was not his first day at the Rodeo. LOL. As long as the metal is recycled then I don't feel too bad and yeah eventually things rot or rust out and need replacing. I hated to give up my ole trusty 89 Blazer as it was rusty but still ran great. Knowing the metal was recycled and the Kidney Foundation got some $$ for it mad the loss less painful. LOL.

Its easy for us in our chair to go WTF what a waste. But when you live with your tools and the tools won't do the job any more you get a new tool. I grew up on a farm and bins were $$ and you did what you could to save $ but back then it was your labor VS paying a hand so sometimes being penny wise is pound foolish. There is a bridge for sale near me, yes an entire bridge and the next town over initally was going to buy it for epic cheap , but the cost to move it setup it up and certify it for use is more then the cost of building a new bridge. Did you try and sell them locally by chance? I wonder if any locals would a have moved the bins or if their real value was really scrap. You must really take care of your stuff because there is no way I would have said those bins were 40 years old.... us chair folks just saw the pretty parts, not the mice, old wires, inability to keep grain dry ETC.

Good question! They were rotten for one, they were in the way for yard expansion for two, and they were the main source for mice in the yard for 3, (and Mike hates mice😂!) and they weren't worth spending any money for 4, and lastly they didn't store grain well. 🤷♂️
