hey everyone, here's a good tip that really helped me!! it applies not only to spiders, but anything you're afraid of. make a funny backstory for the spider and give it a name. "this is my pet spider, his name is davie and he used to work at mcdonalds, but quit because he changed his lifestyle and is now a vegan who eats only dandelions. he enjoys fresh baked cookies and lil head pats. he does not like vaccuum cleaners or brooms. his favorite hobbies include dance, hot dog eating contests, minecraft, knitting, and playing fetch." if you make up this sort of backstory, you can try to neutralize the "threat" and make it appear much more friendly than the scary image you have in your mind.

I'm sorry for spiders, they don't deserve how horribly we treat them because of how scared we are of them. All we are scared of are things they cannot controle, really: the way they look, the way they walk..

tarantulas don’t really phase me but the big ones you find in your house… omg i stand outside crying for an hour

This is gonna take days, maybe weeks... deep-rooted arachnophobia is such a pain in the *rse

I got anxiety watching this tbh, but I will watch this everyday for a week, then start doing the steps gradually. They freak me out a lot and I have to overcome it. Thank you.

Found a pumpkin spider "orange orb weaver" it made a web directly on my patio door. It was such a vibrant color that I couldn't stop looking at it but the entire time my anxiety kept reaching new peaks😭😭😭

I just saw a big spider in my balcony and got so much anxiety I had to look up how to treat it. I feel like I can start to normalize the “threat” by watching videos, but I also feel like I will never be able to overcome the fear of touching them. I just want to be okay with having them around since we share the home..

I have a lot of Jeffreys in my home and even though I'm absolutely scared, hate them and react physically to the sight of them I don't like having to kill them 😖

It’s sad really, arachnophobia causes more pain to spiders than people as people get scared and kill the poor, harmless things.

Spiders are ancient primitive creatures that allegedly can’t really feel pain the way we think about it. So no, I wouldn’t say that. Please try to empathize with arachnophobes, humans have more worthwhile experiences on this earth than spiders do. Having said that, I don’t think animals of any kind should be killed, really

I’m using this to start myself off with sorting out my arachnophobia and my anxiety was at a 40 until it moved then it went straight up to 90 ... now I can feel it all over my body 😭 this is my absolute worst fear.

i also have arachnophobia. dont get onto real life without watching many many MANY videos on spiders. learn about them, learn the species, learn everything. then move onto real life

@@krypton1142 my comment was posted almost two years ago and I’ve now overcome my fear of spiders! (I can’t hold one but I can be near them and remove them with a cup and paper method if I see one in my house) my next phobia to battle is my phobia of moths and butterflies.

This might seem completely wrong at first but try watching some tarantula videos. Try Dave’s Little Beasties, Tarantula Kat or Tarantula Collective. That got my daughter from being basically afraid of spiders, to having a tarantula and being able to hold tiny outside spiders in her hand if I find them for her.

I got a lot of anxiety and began crying when you began putting your hands under the bowl and stuff. Im very scared of spiders.

Im crying watching this, i really need to get better, my toughts lately have been crazy, id always had fear of spiders, but now thinks are getting crazy, maybe i will do terapy, cuz lately im just thinking of them, and this afect my days, stoping me doing things. i think its impossible to be 100 cure, but i wanna get better, i dont even live in a country with big ones or dangerous ones, im from portugal, not australia ahhah

Not all spiders can really bite people, and the ones that can won’t unless they feel very threatened.

I don't think I'm arachnophobic but I don't like them either and I'm afraid to touch them. Watching this really helped me calm down.
