Yeah, I paint interior and exterior for a living and I have been using this sprayer for a little over a year. And I spray 3500 sqft+ houses monthly and 1000sqft-2500sqft 2-3x a week and have never had a problem. But I only use recommended length hose and no tip extension over 20 inches. Like I said, I’ve been using a little over a year and what type of that I bought secondhand because the other sprayer I had was stolen out my truck. So I needed a sprayer because I was in a pinch because I had a job start that morning. So believe me these little sprayers can do a lot more than they give them credit for.

Would you say they are good to use for spraying apartments?

I plan to paint a basement ceiling the same square footage of the house (2400ft) with black matte dryfall paint. Can I use the Project Painter Plus for this? If so, what tip and hose if not the ones that came with the sprayer?

I need to paint a metal garage door with either an oil-based exterior or premium latex paint. Can this sprayer handle those types of paint? Thanks!

So I can paint 1 small room per day. Say I have 5 small rooms to paint - it's Ok to spray 1 a day for 5 days. What happens if I do 2 rooms a day for 2.5 days? Does the pump overheat?

I have a graco project plus sprayer and I’ve been painting the exterior of a 3 bedroom house. I’m almost completely done with the house and my sprayer won’t spray paint anymore. It primes and sprays water out and then it’ll get paint starting to go through then just stop. Is my pump going out or does that just mean it’s clogged somewhere?

Hey I just bought this sprayer to paint the interior of my 4 bedroom house. I only plan on spraying a couple of rooms at a time. I noticed you said this shouldn’t be used to spray more than a small bedroom? What happens if I spray more than that at once? I bought this unit because I only plan to do small projects at a time (a few interior rooms, furniture pieces, etc). I’m not a professional painter, I didn’t want a large unit that takes up too much storage space, and I wanted something affordable but not so cheap that it would crap out on me. Was this a good purchase? Or is there another unit I should exchange this for? Just looking for any guidance

I wouldn't stress, the Project Plus is definitely capable of handling projects that you've mentioned! Definitely no need to exchange, the Project Plus will be able to handle these smaller projects time, at a time. The usage guide is just a guide - it is to ensure that the Project Plus isn't being used for massive exterior repaints, or commercial projects, to avoid burning the motor or pump out!

So the project plus is not great for painting an entire home? (Interior, using Home Depot premium paint.)

Hey John, thanks for the feedback! For that volume of work, it shouldn't be a problem. If you need a little bit more power out of the sprayer, I'd perhaps also recommend considering the X5! I hope that helps!

Question. indoor painting waterbased. Enclosed room no ventilation. besides safety gear is it okay to do?

Good question! It is okay to spray in a room with little to no ventilation. I would highly recommend purchasing a small extraction fan to help, or at least ensure you're wearing a respirator for these projects!

Sure can! We do recommend trying the Fine Finish Low Pressure tips however to achieve a nicer finish - the FFLP310 is a great tip for cabinetry!

I bought a used Project Painter Plus. I cleaned it up really good. But it is leaking from a small round hole directly behind where the suction tube connects. Why is that hole there?

Hey Dion, I had a good look at the parts manuals and our own demo unit and I couldn't see any small holes behind where the suction tube connects. I'd just say to make sure the thread is secured properly and the hose itself doesn't have any splitting.

I plan to paint garage walls and ceiling. Interior walls and ceiling. The house is 3,000 sqft. Lastly, kitchen cabinets (if this is professional enough). Which model do you recommend?

It shouldn't be a problem! It'll more capable, just be mindful of not running the machine too hard, for too long in one given day. Run the pressure as low as possible, whilst still achieving a nice fan pattern. I also recommend to thin your exterior acrylic paint by 5% with water to help pumping and spraying.

So can this be used to spray polyurethane? What if it is the oil-based and not the water-based?

Unfortunately the Project Plus is only suitable for water-based materials. This is due to the safety risk posed by solvent-based materials and their flammbility with the brushed motor!

I bought this machine to paint some kitchen cabinets. I'm only using it for primer(oil base) , will not be using nothing else with this machine. I'm hoping uts ideal for projects like this. ... I know there's better machine but is this decent for what I will be using it for? It would be just to primer cabinets, vanities, doors. I'd probably run 2gal each time that it would be used. Is that cool?

It will be more than fine for handling your application. I do highly recommend using the Graco Fine Finish Low Pressure tips (FFLP) for your application, as that will help achieve the best finish for cabinets, vanities and doors. I hope this helps!

That's great to hear! This is a usage guide moreso for frequency. If you were to spray a whole house, I'd be using Low Pressure tips and not handling these projects multiple times a year :)

The usage guide is idiotic. Nobody buys a paint sprayer to paint a freaking chair..... You paint houses with these things...

Mine spraying out paint at the bottom just under the plunger.... why...

I wonder if this is a better option than their spray gun for painting furniture

When you say it is limited to spraying 200 Liters/yr, what do you mean by that exactly? Is that its typical lifespan? Is that when the motor/pump goes out? And if so, are there steps to extend that lifespan? Thanks for the great video!

This is a rough guide for the average use and lifespan of the Project Plus - assuming you'll use the sprayer for the next 4-5 years + and take good care of it. Frequent flushing with water until clear, storing with Pump Armour and somewhat regular use of the sprayer will definitely help extend the sprayer's lifetime! I hope this helps.

This will do the trick, we usually provide the 6L per day guide as an indication for what the unit will handle in a given year. We've sprayed 15L in a day and the pump is fine, we just don't recommend pushing the unit too hard if you're spraying a massive exterior or interior!

Hey Jason, Thanks for the feedback! When it comes to that type of material, I would just double check what the TDS on the product says. It really comes down to is it a flammable solvent base and what is the viscosity (is it too thick).

Hi there, great question! While the Project Plus will be able to spray cabinets. If you are looking for a factory finish then the Graco HVLP 9.5 (17R080) would be the best suited unit.

Considering this magnum plus. I need to paint a 10x10 shed, 16x16 deck and maybe 100 foot fence - would this unit do the job?

Hey, great question! Sounds like you have some decent sized projects coming up. I would recommend going with the Graco X5 as a minimum. The Project Plus is just not big enough to handle those types of projects. Hope this helps! 🙌

@@jennyandgarylam6464 Anytime! A 515 tip would be perfect for the interior and exterior walls of the shed. But I might consider using like a 312 for the decking and fence as it will give you more control and less over-spray due to the smaller fan width! 🙌

How does it know the size of the house i'm spraying? It either sprays or it doesnt

haha you got us there Rusty! No, just kidding... it is a guideline for warranty and longevity purposes. The goal of defining the recommended litres sprayed per year is to ensure that you get a long life out of the machine and if you have any issues that they are covered under Graco's warranty. Hope this helps!

Hey, thanks for your question! The 4-6 litres per day rating is a guideline that Graco set to ensure that the machine is not overworked and burnt out prematurely. There is nothing necessarily that will happen if you spray over 4-6 litres. It does however, put extra strain and wear on the pump / motor and may void the warranty. Hope this helps!

@@SkemeKOS Staying within this guideline will ensure that the sprayer will perform optimally. Of course after many years of use, the motor will begin to wear as its brushed, and the piston in the pump will wear out eventually! However we do service some of these sprayers that are 5-6 years + old, and are still performing great!

How about what products i can use to atomized? Water base paint yes Oil base paint yes or no? Urethane yes or no? Liquid ceramic product atomized yes or no?

Wait, so if you use it to do larger projects it’ll break?

Not at all! It'll handle projects up to a certain point - we provide a guide so the unit isn't overused and there isn't excessive wear to the pump or motor. It will handle jobs within a reasonable scope - as long as you aren't over-using it or attempting to run a painting business with the Project Plus, you will be fine :)

I'm thinking it's more about letting the pump and motor cool down. Like if you try to spray a five bedroom house without stopping in a single day it could burn it up.

So this is one step better than rattle canning the job.

Absolutely! It depends on your application however. We'd use te Project Plus for furniture, walls, ceilings etc - but if you have a specific need for spraying aluminium frames for example, and needed to paint with a durable enamel, the rattle car would be better for this application.
