    I just used this for the first time Monday and it has an interesting learning curve for sure. One thing about Graco is my new sprayer fell off a small stand I used to get it in a 5 gallon bucket (prob didn't need it) and it broke. I got 2 walls done, it fell over, and it was toast. I called Graco and explained what happened and the rep said it shouldn't have broke so easily and sent a new one out the same day, just arrived today in fact and it broke Monday. I was nervous as I bought it back in Feb. and due to the great plague I didn't get to use it until this week. The customer service is without a doubt the best I have dealt with in a big company. Thanks for the tips!!!

    Would you use this machine to paint cabinets? And if so would you back brush the cabinets as well?

  • @DIYAllied

    @DIYAllied

    4 жыл бұрын

    I wouldn't back brush cabinets unless I was going for a "rustic" look. Spraying fine finishes with an airless paint sprayer can be kind of tricky. A lot of variables come into play and each one can affect the finished products look. I have a few questions. Are you painting or staining/finishing? What products do you plan to use?

    Helping my friend with his pantry build. I think he’s gonna want to clear the shelves and paint the trim white. Any tips on that? Can the clear be sprayed with this machine? Do we need to be using hvlp instead? Very inexperienced painters.

  • @DIYAllied

    @DIYAllied

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@mayhaw213chapman9 I have sprayed poly and lacquer with the x5. I used a 311 tip for both but they spray differently. I have never tried a fflp (fine finish low preasure) tip but I'm sure they would help in spraying any kind of "clear" coat. As far as the trim goes I would try to paint it before you put it on and touch it up after. I'm guessing since its a pantry there isn't a whole lot of space to work in there. The biggest challenge is learning how each product, sprays, hangs, dries, etc. In the end a brush maybe the easiest but if they are willing to expierement a little spraying can produce very nice results.

    Would you back brush if you were using this to paint walls? I hate the texture that paint rollers leave and I'm looking for a faster way to paint than using the paint pads.

  • @DIYAllied

    @DIYAllied

    4 жыл бұрын

    I personally would not backbrush interior walls but you could. You can sometimes avoid the stippling (texture) of a roller by getting one with shorter nap. For smooth walls an 1/8 inch nap roller cover leaves less "texture" than a 3/8 inch nap roller cover. Back rolling is going to help keep things even if you aren't skilled at spraying.

    Mine clogs almost instantly... is this just the paint being too thick you think?

  • @DIYAllied

    @DIYAllied

    2 жыл бұрын

    Unlikely but it is possible. What size tip are you using, small orfice tips clog way easier than large ones Is it a new tip? Old tips tend to hide dried paint in them after a couple uses. Could be low pressure setting as well. If you are having clogs right away it could be from chunks of dried paint that every container seems to have. I have had this issue before and it ussually resolves itself after a few reversa-tip(turning the tip backwards) cleanings.

    @@oneconcept22 The black tips are the RAC(reverse-A-Clean) they come in many sizes. A new x5 comes with a 515 tip which should handle any latex, acrylic, even oil base paint that can be bought for home use. If it is a 515 tip it should spray almost any paint you can buy.

    @@DIYAllied yes it’s the 515. I’ll have to play around with it to see what the problem is. Could it be something obvious that I’m missing? When I removed the tip to clean it was great for pressure and spraying water just fine. Which makes me think that the tip must be easily clogged. I had it watered down quite a bit ( killz primer). And it does state on the can it’s sprayable. Just frustrating

    Title is decieving. Granted, don't think it's done intentionally but nonetheless, it needs to be changed to something more in align with what it is. This video has nothing to do with using an airless paint sprayer. Instead, it should be titled "why you should backbrush when using an airless..." or similar. Title not even close to what this video is or who it's for. Maybe the worst title I've seen in some time.

    The title is staying was it is regardless of your opinion of who the video is for or whether or not you agree with the content. The video is about using a paint sprayer. It is not intended to magically make you a master at spraying a perfect pattern or demonstrating the perfect technique. These sprayers are primarily owned by homeowners, not professionals. Unless you have years of experience I suggest backbrushing.

    @@DIYAllied Wow, super sensitive, huh? My words were neither meant to be unkind nor for you. Rather, I'm letting other visitors know what to expect since the title is nowhere near the ballpark. Some don't have time to spend 5 minutes (or however long) viewing off-topic subjects, particularly during workday breaks and such. Didn't mean to offend you. If you want to stick with what's broken (41% thumbs down, 59% thumbs up), go right ahead. No sweat off my back. But, yes, thank you. I wouldn't have been exposed to backbrushing, a technique I'll definitely utilize now, had it not been for this video, so thank you for that.
