Hey Rob, thank you buddy, hope you’re keeping well.. Yeah the onboard filter is ‘problematic’.. being small and tricky to access.. it can clog, hamper performance, putting a strain on the machine with it having to work harder .. always a pleasure to hear from you my friend 🙏 ..regards Pete

If graco sprayers are that good why do you have to buy extras because there onboard filters are problematic

Hi Derek, you make a valid point.. it’s simply down to cost and keeping the cost affordable for the P&D market.. to include a manifold filter as standard would bump up the shelf price of the GX models.. I guess from a manufacturers standpoint, if there wasn’t an onboard filter whatsoever, there would be a risk of damage if poor quality unstrained paints were used.. bit like an electrical fuse, you’re adding a layer of protection.. all Graco sprayers are ready to go out the box, upgrades are purely optional.. hopper, gun upgrades etc.. hope that helps my friend.. you do make a good point 👌

I've got one of the Sprayman uk filters on my gxff. Can't remember last time I had a blockage. Great bits of kit .

Hey Brian, really appreciate your feedback.. yeah it’s a solid design, solid in construction and weighty too.. have you noticed if any pulsation is reduced, have to say I noticed a slight reduction when spraying at such low (900) psi 👍 ..thanks again, always great to have your input my friend.. regards Pete

Hi Pete, you making me want to spend more lol. on another note i started using my sprayer, I'm enjoying so far, however i have been making some rookie mistakes and i end up with paint runs on my doors, obvious i still have a lot to learn and i will have to improve my spraying technique massively in regards to stop paint runs. i will get there eventfully. i guess practise makes perfection! if practice won't help sanding down paint runs will make me to improve because they are a pain on the neck. best regards Flavio

Really considering selling me Wagner 250 and graco ultra and buying this unit with the hopper seems to make more sense with one unit 👍💪🏼

Yeah I see what you’re thinking ..the SpraymanUK GX21FF (GX21 with Hopper), is an innovative well thought out design.. The hopper installation video is coming soon, I demo how such a small amount of material is required to ‘prime’ the system, especially with the smaller 3/16” hose.. I measure the amount of paint going in and show how much is returned to the can 😆 ..quicker cleanup with this smaller setup too.. I do still like my Ultra Handheld 💯 ..earned its keep on projects many times over for me.. Always great to hear from you, don’t hesitate to ask if I can help at all.. regards Pete

Hi Niall.. sorry for not getting back to you sooner, I will always reply my friend.. thank you so much for the kind words of support, and I appreciate your update on your kitchen.. well done that’s quite an achievement 👏👍.. if I recall you used the GXFF, (and FFLP tip).. the spits could be from the wrong tip seat / gasket for an FFLP tip.. the LP uses a larger orifice and FFLP a smaller, if a larger setup is used with the FFLP tip, you can get a spit.. This short video demonstrates the difference.. kzread.info/dash/bejne/aZ53zptqmqnWcto.html I wouldn’t choose diamond eggshell personally, but I can appreciate and respect the custoner choice.. I can offer some advice in future on product selection if that would help Regarding the paint strainer, I believe Brewers sell the individual Trimaco strainers.. sane as I use, I buy them in packs.. they surprisingly fit the hopper, they just take a bit of force 😆 Hope this covers your points, feel free to get back to me if you need anything.. regards Pete

Hey Niall, I do rate systems by Tikkurila, Teknos (both from Finland) and AkzoNobel ..Especially the spray only manufacturer coating by AkzoNobel, and I hear good reports on Teknos Teknocoat Aqua 2575-32 ..which is used by kitchen manufacturers and interior furniture companies.. 2 other suggestions in this category are Renner and Sayerlack ..from Italy producing globally recognised, market leading products using waterborne technology 👍 regards Pete

I’m not going to lie, the well built construction of the manifold filter is weighty and certainly adds to the weight of the GX21.. I’m on the same page as you, I love my 395, but i find it awkward to manoeuvre.. then there’s the weight of the 110v transformer 🙈 ..I know the offset handle on Graco stand mount pumps is supposed to make carrying easier, but I do find the 2 handle design of the GX21 easier.. great to hear from you Paul, hope you’re keeping well my friend 💯

Im going to take your advice and order the hopper and smaller hose. I got my GX21 from spraydirect, but there advice differs from yours, regarding the smaller hose.

That’s great Anthony, a hopper is a very good addition.. regarding the smaller3/16” hose, another way to think about it .. a 3/16” 7.5m hose is whats included as standard with the GXFF.. and the replacement pump is the same for both GX models 👍 ..When calling SpraymanUK ask to speak to Mike, he’s very knowledgeable about all things Graco (..and basically anything spray related 😆) ..plus I’m always happy to help if I can 👍 ..regards Pete

Hey buddy, thank you so much 🙏 ..great question.. yeah I change both manifold and gun filters.. so if I’m spraying woodwork / trim (so an .008 or .010 tip), I use a 100 mesh (blue) filter.. then if spraying an emulsion, I swap to a 60 mesh (black) filter in the manifold and gun.. emulsion I typically use a LP 515 tip 👍 Hope this helps, keep in touch my friend, happy to help if I can.. regards Pete

(the primer is Ultra Primer) Ultra Classic sprays beautifully.. and Holman Paints can tint to any colour off pretty much any colour chart.. You’re very welcome.. it’s mainly independent stockists, direct from Tikkurila, or Johnstones decorating centres (PPG have recently acquired Tikkarila).. I simply order from Holmans and get it delivered (to base or the customer address).. hope that helps 👌👍😆

Hey Pete, I'm trying to unscrew the bolt that holds the filter to my GX21 Cordless that i recently purchased from Sprayman but it seems really tight and to the point of thinking im going to thread the bolt if i go at it any harder. Did you have or know anyone that has had a similar problem? Even applied some WD-40 to help but no luck. I'd like to give the filter a good clean and check up as ive just finished a big job with it using oil based eggshell. Thanks.

Hi Kevin, sorry to hear you’re having a bit of trouble.. just to confirm, is it the onboard (small) filter that you’re looking at releasing / checking?.. or an installed ‘bottle’ filter (like the video).. either way, you’re right, don’t over work it.. Hey Niall, I personally prefer a compressor air spray setup with a pressure pot Vs a turbine ..a regulated pressure pot allows more dedicated air at the gun, which helps atomise thicker (decorative) coatings.. you also get more equipment for your money.. my recent HSL video features this setup.. another advantage of a compressor (with sufficient CFM), you’re a step closer to going AAA (Air Assisted Airless).. equals the ultimate setup for fine finish spraying (such as cabinets), with little to no overspray 👍👌 ..regards Pete

I wish sprayman would do a bit of a deal on these 😅 i really want one! Does it come with a set of filters too? Also which filters does it take? I find the in built filter a bit of a nightmare to access and clean, not only that, you can’t seem to buy the blue finer one’s? Just the black ones for emulsion say? Cheers dude

Forget this. I just bit the bullet and bought it anyways! Personally i think this is definite “must have” as I’m constantly getting clog ups with mine even though i always strain my paint. I only use my GX21 FF for woodwork so i see it being beneficial to me 😀👍🏻 hope you’re all well and good matey?

Hey James, you’re right about the onboard filter being impractical to clean (and a little pointless 🙈).. I understand why though, it keeps the GX manufacturing cost down, to so the retail price is appealing to the P&D market.. Yeah the SpraymanUK bottle filter comes with 100 and 50 (or 60) mesh filters. Metal in construction too, so will certainly last.. always a pleasure to hear from you buddy.. regards Pete

I’ve got a good chunk of spraying to do coming up so this’ll make things a little easier and less problematic going forward. FFS! Don’t mention AAA 🤣🤣 I’ve been pondering on this for some years now and can see the advantage’s on this setup but, a new van at the moment is my priority and we’re in the midst of moving houses at the moment too.
