Clan Duergar lives. Those remaining once captive will be liberated or at least know bliss if for only but a moment as they lay dying by the conspiracy of those slaving, mastering or each. It is no gossip or rumor that one of Clan Duergar favored by all the pantheon of Dwar seeks to rescue what can be rescued & settle The World Below once & for all as killing or molestation of any sort for that matter is unnatural not honorable as instinct, intuition & logic each denotes be there law or no law! As for The World Above? May food & drink *continue* to rain. 🤸🧘🏋️🤹🪂🍫🫐🍓🍄✨
More underdark settlement lore would be fantastic rn, running Out of the Abyss
I'm excited to see this city and Themberchaud in the D&D movie. I recognized him in the movie trailer from having played Out of the Abyss, which was a fun surprise.
I like how Gracklstugh is directly below Besilmer and the Fane of the Eye, so once my players finish Princes of the Apocalypse it'll definitely be the Duergar and Themberchonk that come to the Dessarin Valley next, rather than the Drow.

the name Themberchonk will forever be saved in my mind
5:20 That’s a great list! 👍
Thank you so much!! I love the lore of the Underdark, your work on the Forgotten Realms Lore its truly priceless
There's also a neat dmsguild guide called 'Turmoil in the city of blades', if you want to run Out of the Abyss and find its content lacking.
Awww, thanks man ❤
I paused the video at the top 10 list and died laughing. If not for spare the dying I would have perished
Yet another amazing lore video! I was recently looking for dwarven settlements in Faerûn!
That list, what an honor! Lol
Yes. Please more about the fantastic Underdark settings. Including any ecology info!!! And you can make longer videos. It's all good.
Love your lore telling. You are one of my favorite subscriptions. Thanks for all your quality work!
Would love to see you cover more locations, especially more obscure ones like Tashalar, Impiltur, Lapaliiya, Vaasa, Luruar, Thesk, and Dambrath. Each of those has enough content for a video and hasn't been covered much or at all on YT. I first found your channel around 6 years ago, when you were doing a lot of videos about places in the Forgotten Realms and I've always felt that your style of presentation goes well with summing up fantasical locations and their histories. I'm not as interested in what WotC is putting out these days cuz it's usually disappointing to me, but I do still really like Toril and its lore and I'd love to see more videos on its locations!
Love the War of the Spider Queen. I played a wizard named Pharaun because yeah, he's great. Then later in a Shadowrun game, played a character who used the same name as their runner name because they read a book series about a wizard named Pharaun in their backatory.
I really appreciate this content. I have been trying to write up a homebrew world with a buddy of mine and I haven't had a good reference to how duergar civilization existed in Forgotten Realms. These sources will be helpful thank you.
I do love a chonky critter, and Themberchaud seems to lean heavily in that direction.
Pharaun was also my favorite in that series. Such a fun character. Maybe “fun” isn’t the right word. 😂🤣🤘🏼
Emberchaud... If Chad was a red dragon indeed:)
From a guy who just started playing, thanks for the videos. I get bad anxiety slowing down play asking a lot of questions. These videos really help me feel a lot more comfortable playing.

That's great to hear! The more you run games the better you'll feel about future games! Game on!
In my OotA campaign a few years ago, my group sparked a civil war between factions of the clans of Gracklestugh using a red dragon egg meant to be Themberchaud’s replacement. The war was vicious but came to a swift end when Demogorgon showed up and destroyed the city and the dragon and most of the inhabitants. Now the city of blades is a haunted ruin of its former glory, populated by the Derro who mostly survived by laying low while the city fell.
Happy to see WASD20 and Mr. Rhexx in your top 5
LoL 'The Ember Chad"
Poor Pharaun...
great content as always
Legends speak of Themberchoad, the red dragon wider than he is long.
Speaking of underdark, the Deep Gnomes would be cool next. And there was a human city down there to, remnants of the illuskan empire I think. Read a novel on it once, curious if there is more info

Quite.
So that pretty much confirms the DnD movie underdark location and cubby red dragon in the trailer
Thumber, the OG super Chad
Love the list
Hi Jorphdan, I would love a more detailed video about The Shaar. You mentioned it (and Eastern Shaar) in a few video's but I don't think you have one about that region in particular. I love everything you do, you are an amazing inspiration to me as a DM. kind regards
The drow series also is where king steelshadow dies
Great shirt!
Excellent video as usual jorphden! Also do think you could do a video covering the underdark city Deep imaskar?
Mr. Rhexx!
O LORD BOG CHONK IS COMIN
"Themberchaud Roughs" ................his name being Chad is all I need to know as a DM
This place sounds unlivable considering all the smoke and ash rising from the city is trapped underground and has no place to go. People would suffocate there or at least come out with a severe case of black lung.
The whole steel industry went gray. We work hard, we play hard.
I love your list of trustworthy fellows
Underdark is my favest region on material plane!
Themberchad just has a hypoactive thyroid. I mean the krispy kreme he gets delivered doesnt help... But thats another story.
Would you ever do a Blingdenstone video for our curious friends the deep gnomes? I know both places are in Out of the Abyss.
MORE LORE!
I'm not sure I'd put Elminster on that top ten list... Sure, he is a straight badass known to dual wield wands and outwit gods, and generally fairly honourable... but he always gives off the vibe of a guy that can go from your best friend to smiting you with a spell nobody else knows over like, small slights.
I'd be curious to read the source of existence of a tradeway from Skullport through the Labyrinth?
4th PLACE BABY!!!

Loved the t-shirt! By the way, would you talk about the drow and duergar from Oerth one of these days?
@Jorphdan

Sure! I'll see what I can dig up
Mantol-derith please. Dndbeyond has a forgotten realms version of Matt Mercer's heroic Chronicle. That city really piqued my interest I got 1 character from there.
I love the list of trustworthy people..I watch most of those channels 🤣🤣
Second the recommendation of the War of the Spider Queen series - but I personally liked the spinoff Empyrean Odessey a little more...
What I was just wondering: 1) Dwarves must function well on low oxygen, because fire/lava will use it up, 2) they are resistent to the smoke that musr be everywhere, as the fumes are trapped, 3) can't (red) dragons morph into other creatures, shouldn't Thunderchad be able to escape?
Boy did I mispronounce the name of this place when I ran Out of the Abyss.
What happernd to Gracklstugh after the events of "Out of the Abbys" offisialy? What happend to Themberchaud?
Can you do Starfinder lore content too?
Chonky cute dragon.
Based on historical factors if the current red dragon would leave the underdark, the dragon wouldn’t survive. Years ago, horses were used in mines. After 5 to 10 years of service, after leaving the horses would go blind from the sunlight. Now try to change my mind that a 2nd or 3rd generation red dragon who never saw sunlight wouldn’t go blind.
Pharaun was also my favourite, if only that contingency played out better.
Thunderchad?
Hey Jorphdan, do you think you could do a complete FR lore and world summary? Like a 2 hour-ish one? I'd really like to lesnr about the Forgotten Realms beyond the sword Coast but it all looks really daunting. I know 2 hours sounds like alot, but somehow this video doesnt exist on KZread already, so I think you would get alot of views.

a single video would be nice, I'm not sure I have the for such a task. However you could follow my Forgotten Realms Explained playlist and hopefully get the full world history you're looking for. kzread.info/head/PLJqE7QBvDyc_-q5sZQV3eUK6vwfznTt-6

@@Jorphdan I've been making my way through that and it definitely helps, but looking at every region in such a unordered way is kinda confusing. Do not blame you for not taking up the task though, it would be pretty challenging
Mmm...grackle stew
Themberchaud is kinda "The ember chaud (hot, in French), Or "the hot ember", so he's not "Chad." Themberchaud, logically, ends in a sound like "Showed"
Hey way back when in your humans video you said you should probably make a video or series on Kara tur. Well i just discovered your channel and I would love to see that video.
Why doesn't Themberchag just polymorph to move around
@Jorphdan

Chromatic dragons typically aren't Spellcaster's I'm the forgotten realms
How trapped is Themberchaud, really? Has he no access to magic?
@Jorphdan
Жыл бұрын
probably not super trapped, physically stuck, Chromatic Dragons can't shapeshift like Metallic ones.
Couldn't he just create an Avatar of himself and just walk out the front Door?
Drizzt? That's too far away from #1. He's at least #4. I lost track of all the lords, creatures, dragons and demons that died by his hand. He's the #1 Underdark annoyance.
Don't dragons have an inherent ability to shape-shift? Why couldn't the fatty dragon just transform into a smaller creature and leave?
@Jorphdan
Жыл бұрын
Not chromatic dragons, but you're right in that magic fixes all problems
I think the proper Germanic pronunciation would be like "Gracklestow or Gracklestoff"
300xp.
They dug too deep and found some doo doo, that's why they are the dark dwarves or doo doo dwarves so the sages say
It's "Duergar", not "do-er-gar".
