Shanti Sukmawati Elijah wood has played for Grace since the beginning of her AGT time. All of those live performance where she had a back up band, I am pretty sure Elijah was the drummer. Ben Masters played with Grace most of the time after AGT. He was on tour with her except for a few dates in which Elijiah filled in. He also traveled with her while she was opening for Imagine Dragons.

I agree, among other things she does and has going for her. When she sings words like that extended “know” here and also in her ‘River’ cover, I always dig it and find it interesting. I don’t know where the little accent is from, but I also think it sounds like just a bit of an inflection done while singing?

@Abe Roman She doesn't want it to sound the same , cause Grace does cover as originals . She puts herself in the writers perspective , that's what artist do , she not a karaoke singer . I never listened to Riptide til Grace covered it , Vance's sounds boring to me. I think she did some of these early covers because they were easy to learn on the uke.

I was listening to a video reaction to her singing "Darkness Keeps Chasing me" and the guy said the same thing, "How can her live acoustic version of the song be better than the studio?" I think it's because that is the sign of a true artist, she can't be faked, it is what will make her concerts worth going to even more.

I think is because I love Grace's voice, but this is the best Riptide song version I ever heard :)

Probably because there's really nothing basic about her performance of it. Her sense of dynamics, crazy understanding of musical time, and of course her voice are simply on a higher level. How does a 13 y/o reimagine a great song into something so original? I's love to see her do this tune with Chris Thile on "Live from here".

There's not a single thing Grace does that I don't absolutely adore. She's just a beautiful and uniquely talented person.

Grace has absolutely made this song her own. This is a masterpiece performance. Because of the setting it is much more subdued than she normally does it which forces much more attention paid to her dynamics and it just turned out so incredibly soulful, powerful and just down-right tasty. WAY beyond her 14 years (and 2 years or so as a pro)! A true prodigy.
