I went to my local Walmart and I found these red and green ornaments I really like. It's going to be perfect for creating this hanging ball.
We're going to take the ornament, making sure all of the tops are secured, and if they're not, you can just come back in with a little bit of hot glue, and I'm just going to dip that ornament top into the skillet and that's actually going to secure it even more.
Then, what we're going to do is just poke it right into the ornament. As you can see, it creates a much larger ornament than using the smaller ones and all we have to do is just alternate between each color.
The cool thing about this ornament ball is that you can do it in whatever color scheme you like. There are so many different colored ornaments out there and so many other choices and selections and you can also use unusual shapes as well.
I'm just alternating, so we have somewhat of a pattern but if you're using the smaller ones it doesn't really make a huge difference. I just took the ornaments and poked them throughout, that way we have our guidelines and we don't have to worry about doing it.
As we add each ornament so now what we can do is we can come back in with our next layer. And again, as I said, don't worry about any of the gaps at this point we are going to come back in with some extra little ornaments.
We have one final ornament left to add but it's not going to fit perfectly in between so we are going to need to add an artificial stem. You can also do this to every single one (we actually showed that in the last video we did last year for Hometalk) so we're going to just let that sit for a minute or two while it hardens up and then we'll poke that right into the styrofoam.
Here are the little ornaments that I showed you guys at the beginning and those are actually the smaller ones that we used for the entire ball last time.
And now, we're going to use those to fill any of the little gaps that we have in between the ornament. Add the ornaments where it's necessary, and it really depends on each and every ornament that you make because sometimes it's going to require more. Sometimes, it's going to require a little bit less, and if there are glue strings you can always pull them off after they've hardened.
Now, I just have a little length of wire and what I'm going to do is fold that so that we create a U or a pin. You can also use a floral pin for this. Then, just snip them slightly at an angle.
What we're going to do now is create a little knot and you want to tie it a couple of times to make sure it's not going anywhere. Take your scissors and snip off and excess. Cut yourself a nice long wire to hang it from a tree and I'm going to cover that real quick when I tie this. I like to have a single string instead of a loop so what I do is I just tie this to the branch so it’s like a tree branch, I just tie it right on and if I choose to move it elsewhere all I have to do is just snip off that wire and attach it somewhere else. So now that we have our little pin we're going to really close that up we don't need it super wide dip it in our glue skillet and find a little opening. Make sure it goes into the styrofoam and there you go. You have a nice long wire to hang it and you can also place this on a pole and create a topiary.
Now let's see what this looks like hanging up from my tree here. I absolutely love that we kept it in a traditional color scheme which just screams Christmas to me.
Thank you all so much for watching I hope this video inspired you I'm Nick Kreticos of Nick’s Seasonal Decor and you're watching me on Hometalk.

Maybe spray painting the white Styrofoam ball red or green would help with hiding the (white) on the Styrofoam ball!

I thought of that too at first, but spray paint is a lot of extra work.

You acrylic paint and foam brush, dries fast. You could even use black paint, or stuff some moss or garland pieces into openings. Pretty ball!

Me too! Too much nonsense in other videos. I’m a fan now!
I agree that the styrofoam ball should have been light spray paint or spray a thinn coat of glue and then roll in glitter.
It would really be cool if you could put some tiny lights, like rice lights woven in and through the ball. They have some with just the very small battery pack that you can squeeze to turn off and on. Unfortunately they don’t twinkle but I still think they would be great!!

I always thought MESH looked too busy looking but this is eye catching! I LOVE IT!! So easy too to make quickly! Thank you & have a great holiday!
Poinsettia wreath is so fabulously perfect!!! Love it, love it, love it. Thanks.💞💞💞
Might be worth it to paint the foam ball a dark green or black to stop seeing white foam through the xmas balls.

These are cool idea. You could use up ornaments that have lost the hanger. If you go to a thrift store and buy a gravy warmer that works to. I’m going to try using a Fondue set. We have so many coming into our thrift store.
Cut your deco mesh using a woodburning tool, and it won’t fray at all 😉

@@lou-anntedesco2567 If you do the wood burner use the correct respirator- dust masks won’t protect your respiratory system & adequate ventilation. I love the look of the mesh because it doesn’t fray, but haven’t researched which respirator to buy.
I didn't even know there is a thing called a glue skillet😃
I love this! I have a snowman theme this year. These would be beautiful in a silver, white and blue! I think I gotta make some! ❤️💜💚

I do snowmen every year with a few Santa's and Christmas things. Christmas is just one month but snowmen can stay up all winter.❤❤😊
I would spray paint the white foam red or green before adding the ornaments so you can't see any of the foam.

Tinsel garland would be cute too to fill in the styrofoam ball gaps I’ve made a poinsettia wreath before. 😊. Thanks for sharing
That hot glue skillet is what inspires me the most! 🤯 Brilliant!
Great decor! Love it! Love both the ornaments are beautiful !
Great ideas beautiful 🤩 decor ❤😊💜🥰
Friendly Tip From one crafter to another.... if you have a heat gun, you can use it (From a distance not to melt styrofoam or craft project) to get rid of all the glue stringy things. Also, when adding another glue stick to glue gun, dab a tiny amount of hot glue to end of new stick, push into gluegun to add to the glue stick inside the gluegun, this helps to stop glue sticks from falling out. Cheers 🎄🎅☃🎄
Thank you absolutely beautiful I will be making some of these gratefully appreciated
Both are beautiful.
Absolutely lovely!🌸 Thanks for sharing.🙏🏽
I love the traditional green and red too! This was really nice and I am going to make one tomorrow. Thanks for the idea and inspiration!
So pretty
Omgee, a glue skillet! Genius!
I was disappointed that you didn't have instructions for the wreath. It is beautiful.
These projects were so beautiful!! Thanks.
Love it and thank you for your god given talent
What adhesive is in the skillet? Its so pretty! Love it!
It works is an abstract Christmas. Good job.
Beautiful project! Thank You.
Now this first project is the prettiest I've seen yet of all art projects
Just a little idea for the ball. You might try to glue some green moss on the white ball and then glue on the balls. It will hide the white background. Also, you can buy green styrofoam balls.
HELLO FROM ARIZONA, THANK YOU LOVE THE POINSETTIA! ITS JUST SO BEAUTIFUL. THANKS FOR SHOWING !! 💗

if you have a small crockpot or old electric skillet you just use it to melt the glue sticks. You don't have to buy a specific "glue pot" at Michaels, Hobby Lobby or Walmart, you can go to Goodwill & get a used small crock & it does the same thing.

Love it. You can do the same concept with the colored pom poms.
Very pretty wreath love it!
Very quick and beautiful deco style 👍💞💞

Really cute ideas !
I am going to try this but use it as a topper! So cute thanks!
If you tie it to a tree branch make sure not to leave it around the branch. The tree will grow around it so it weakens the branch.
So Pretty Love Em Both 🎅🎁🎄🍬
Cute!
Beautiful! Definitely inspired. Thank you for sharing these ideas with us. Blessings!
I just googled Nick's Seasonal Décor, I'm so happy you are in New Hampshire. I can't wait to tell my knitting/crafting group on Monday, We can do a road trip. We are in Groveland MA. Looking forward to seeing you.
That’s lovely, thank you😊
Beautiful decor
My fave the poinsettia!.🙂🎄
The poinsettia wreath is and appears simple for a beginner like myself.
I was given a wreath one time and the hot glue didnt hold once it got cold. Is there different types?
Really nice

What is a glue skillet?
What size Styrofoam ball?
Or use flower foam
GLUE SKILLET?? never heard of such a thing....what ? How??
It's a good idea but there is too much of the styrofoam ball visible.
:)
❤❤❤❤
Ouch !
And what is this glue?
What/where can I find that glue pot. TYI
It was very easy to do however space's bug me and I noticed that after hanging. Shouldn't that have been filled in with something to complete it? Just saying... 🎄🦌🎄
