The orange part in the filter is an anti-drain valve which prevents oil from draining out of filter when the engine is shut down. All external filters have it

Hey what's up! Thank you for the comment. I remember now reading that back in the day on NASIO. Great to know GR Corolla drivers are just as technical.

btw for future videos, the sound seems to only have been Left audio. Glad you made the video, break in oil changes should be a thing even if manufacturers want to pretend like it's not needed

It’s called a crush washer … It’s a great idea to do the first oil change at 1000 miles to get rid of the contaminants that will be in that first oil change .. But if you want to step it up a notch, Amsoil signature the best oil on the planet

Hey what's up! I agree that Amsoil is the best and would def use for track cars. Oh man, would love to have a track only car eventually. Appreciate the comment fam!

8:51 Subaru top mount oil filter systems aren't great since the anti drain back valve doesn't work well with their engines and allows oil to pass through the filter and flow through the supply side of the filter back into the engine instead of keeping the filter primed. The oiling system then has to fill the filter back up every start when that occurs which causes a delay in oil pressure and subsequently additional wear. Thank goodness more cars don't have top mount oil filters lol. Plenty of Subaru owners notice when they remove the oil filter it's fairly dry when you would hope the filter would be holding a decent amount of oil. Seems ridiculous to me that an OEM would do that, but it happens on my brothers GR86 as well.

Hey what's up! Dang man, that was some great clarity you provided, really appreciate it fam! Knowing that, I understand why Toyota does not have top mount oil filter designs on their engines. Have fun!

what proven benefit does the wicks XP filter have over OEM

@@KG_BM Wix XP is probably the logical replacement for Toyota filters since they prioritize oil flow over absolute filtering efficiency, just like Toyota, but seem to have better filtering efficiency than Toyota filters based on some oil filter comparison videos by the "Brand Ranks" YT channel. The Toyota filters seem to be designed with maximum flow in mind for cold and hot operation, and therefore relatively poor filtering for smaller particle sizes, and Wix similarly has great flow characteristics compared to higher efficiency filters that are more restrictive like Purolator Boss, etc.

The first oil filter is specifically for factory oil I believe and you're likely unable to order it

Hey what's up! Yeah, I was thinking about an M4 but my friends told me to save for a Porsche if I am not a big euro car fan. BMW has come a long way considering Toyota uses them in their Supra now. Thanks for the comment fam!

30 ft-lbs for the drain plug!? How about hand tight plus a quarter turn. Oil filter should be hand tight only as well
