@@itachi7976they’re looking at the current GPU landscape within a historical context. The prices are absolutely absurd when you consider the fact that they’re being sold for 4+ times the prices of GPUs back when NVIDIA was just 1 of many GPU manufacturers. The only thing that prevents companies from shilling out minuscule upgrades every generation in an attempt milk their technology for every greedy drop possible, IS COMPETITION. And NVIDIA only has one competitor that doesn’t even put a dent in its market share. But things reallly would be WAY worst without AMD…

The Ultra budget list seems to be the only one close to realistic pricing, the rest just go into the stratosphere with the prices.

Well, I have picked up 6 so far for friends who wanted them all at the 999. It is interesting though that lately places like bestbuy are better to buy from the newegg when they have stock (and they have had stock for the last month or 2. It was just this weekend I went and looked and noticed a bunch went to sold out). Even now, I picked up probably the last 4090 model they had even close to locally for a build at 1799 compared to the same card on newegg that was still at 1999., Using just newegg now for pricing seems to be a weakness. Personally, I refuse to buy this gen on either side as I don't think the cost is worth it to me.

If you want some real world comparisons with realistic budget pairings HWU compared 12100f, 13100f, 5500 and 5600 and one of the cards was an RX 6650XT. The 12 game average @1080 was 5600 with 115fps, 13100f with 112 fps, 12100f with 109 fps and 5500 with 104 fps. If I recall from all tests I watched once you bump up to an 6700 XT or better the 5600 starts to pull away more. So if you don't want to spend the extra for an 5600 the 5500 has been $86.54 on Amazon for 8? days now and is something to consider if your budget needs to be as cheap as possible.

I'm actually getting ready to build a PC now, was thinking about ordering the parts in the next few days and I had decided on the 7700XT. $420 fit in my budget and it seemed like one of the better cost-to-performance cards out there. You suggested that price might come down even further from manufacturers - would that be likely to happen on the time scale of months, weeks, days, do you think?

So the issue with the 7700XT is its price. The 7800XT has better price to performance and you can still get an XFX 6800 so currently the 7700XT isn't a good value.

At 1080p 60, just grab a RX 6600. If you want more than 8GB than I'd look at a 6700XT, 7600XT. Do not overspend on a GPU when games are expensive, boring and aren't optimized.
