GPs are Struggling to find Jobs

Ғылым және технология

In this video, I'll explain what's going on in General Practice that means that despite having such a high demand for patients, we also have so many unemployed GPs

I swear this is happening in the US too. I have heard that hospitals are trying to save money by having 1 physician and 5 PAs because their salaries are lower. This is kinda ok, but clearly not enough because it's so hard to get an appointment. The job market sucks massively right now. Physicians and therapists going unemployed when their demand is higher than ever is insane.

That’s sounds really similar! I don’t think this supposed cost saving has been thought through in the long run

Are GPs struggling to find any job or struggling to find a job that they want? The GP shortage is not uniform across the country. If these unemployed GPs were willing to move somewhere that needs GPs, I'm sure they could find work.

That may be the case, but when you have a family and other commitments in one part of the country, it’s not exactly easy to just move. Especially as even employed (salaried) GPs are losing out on their jobs to non-doctors in some cases, so if they move they may not have job security

So GPs are suffering like the rest of us with people being brought in who will work cheaper doing the same job , sorry I’m not going to cry over you no longer being able to afford that second home when for twenty years the poor haven’t been able to buy or rent a home. Let’s hope politicians get the same treatment and something might be done for all of our benefit.

In the US our health system is being flooded by Indian GPs who did their studies in India or through international exchanges in Eastern Europe. Unfortunately they don’t tend to be very good doctors, they’re very cookie cutter in their approach to the body and they lack understanding of American culture, lifestyle and even language. It is difficult to communicate with them and get adequate treatment, so most patients seek out American, European or even Hispanic doctors more often.

They say it's because they don't want to do more than 3 days per week....the darlings can't mentally handle it fulltime! .but it's the patient's fault, eh? You're talking rubbish.. Not in our GP practice. You see a nurse or a pharmacist if you're lucky. No, never no way more appts than before.

Who is the "they" that say that young people don't want to work?

Women GPs are a big problem working part time, we need twice the staff we needed when it was just men.
