I'm living with your memory In the attic in my mind And you've been getting by without me But I've been spending all my time With a girl that I remember Who'll never leave or need to grow 'cause when you left you left your memory Now it's the only thing I know When the past gives me no comfort And though the future is the cost The way I'm choosing to remember I'll forever be the man I never was And you, you fade But the memory remains the same And I, I can't change And I think that living with your memory Is slowly driving me insane You are perfect but you're empty And it gets so lonely in my mind 'cause your image in my memory's The only shred of you that's left behind You were real but then you left me And that's the part I can't accept So I'll keep on living with your memory Because it's all that I've got left

Gotye is one of my favorite artists. The way his music makes me feel is much more vivid than with other music. His song bronte made me cry like a waterfall and whenever I listen to somebody that I used to know i get goosebumps all over. His song 7 hours with a backseat driver makes my fantasy go on a journey full of comical and macabre things. His music videos are always very fitting too. Same. I heard it back in college. 2005. Takes me all the way back 😭
Loved this song..Not sure why this is not so popular amongst Gotye songs .. ? Lyrics, music, singing everything perfect.. + emotions it generates.. This will always remain one of my fav songs. Gotye please come up with your next big album..Waiting for your Grammy .. !
Lol some people don't realize it takes a while to write and record art. A lot of work goes into it. Love it :) you're great.

***** Since when supporting gay people is the right thing to do ? Would you agree that your kid, may it even be unborn, yet, will watch, my pardons, stare, at a gay couple in the public, while they kiss ?! Two men? Be serious, what's going wrong with you, people ?!
Massively underrated song. Wish more people knew of it!
I will always love this song! Heavy but light, complex but simple, emits great atmosphere and the sounds are really well thought out. I always find a new instrument listening to this. Yeah!
haunting and beautiful nostalgic painful and addictive what a masterpiece of a song...
The lyrics sound so sad yet soothing, kind of like memories that are painful because of how good they were when you lived them
And you, you fade But the memory remains the same And I, I can't change And I think Living with your memory Is slowly driving me insane
I saw gotye play this live. It was an honour to see him. After the gig i got to speak to him. Thanks gotye.

Alright, second time listener here. The song gets better the more you listen to it!! I was bobbing my head the whole song. Amazing 👏
Only finding this song now and lemme tell you, I'm fucking obsessed
His greatest song. A haunted man, stuck with nothing but memories. “I can’t change/and I think that living with your memory/is slowly driving me insane.”
I just fell in love with Gotye. 😳😳😳 Music that flows straight into my soul.
this song is so futuristic but at the same time so nostalgic, damn

Goyte, you have amazing talent. Authentic taste in music and we'd all love you to keep going, despite the fact that you might not be getting noticed after your Somebody That I Used To Know, people still follow you, listen to your work. Sometimes, it's not necessary to get your work noticed but to keep doing what you love to. It might be hard, because I have no clue of it, we'd all be amazingly happy if you come back.

Memories broken The truth goes unspoken I’ve even forgotten my name I don’t know the season Or what is the reason I’m standing here holding my blade A desolate place Without any trace It’s only the cold wind I feel It’s me that I spite As I stand up and fight The only thing I know for real There will be blood-shed The man in the mirror nods his head The only one left Will ride upon the dragon’s back Because the mountains don’t give back what they take Oh no There will be blood-shed It’s the only thing I’ve ever known Losing my identity Wondering have I gone insane To find the truth in front of me I must climb this mountain range Looking downward from this deadly height And never realizing why I fight
