One name, Peter Gabriel. Look it up. Goyte obviously is highly influenced by him. I feel really old w this response. Video wise, yeah, the 80s. Just, the 80s man. A bunch of musicians had videos like him back in the day, this is just more refined and modern. Hell even radio head has videos like him. He's a good musician, but not exactly the only one who sounds like he does. It's not like he's ripping anyone off, you can hear their influences they have in his songs. His video style isn't as common anymore in mainstream. Musically, good artist, yet he's got a style I'm thinking you're too young to remember, unless you are old enough to remember the 80s. And yes, I was a kid, but I remember some of the 80s. God seeing this comment makes me feel old.

Discipline and commitment are temporary measures. In the end, you will always return to what you truly want when discipline and commitment wear out. Perhaps rather than attempting to force yourself to be a person you aren't, you should examine what you are looking for in the paths you keep going down. Perhaps if you can find what it is you truly want you can then find better ways to get to where you want to be. But if you keep trying to walk a path and you keep veering off it, no amount of grit or determination will ever be able to keep you steady long term, eventually in a moment of silence it will hit you that the path you are on is one you never wanted, and that all your effort has bought you is misery.

This is an outstanding example of the trace amounts of real music left in this world. The world needs Gotye and more people like him. I swear I will make 1,000 accounts just so I can like this video 1,000 times.

Why does everyone think you need drugs to make or think this way.... ? It's called having great sense of imagination and a creative mind. Seeing the world differently then others....

Gotye (Wally De backer) is not a band, he is a Solo performer, who also happens to be part of a band called "The Basics" (A band from Melbourne, Australia). If you like Gotye, Look up his other songs (Hearts a Mess for example), or as the Band, the Basics, Look up ""The Lucky Country" (a song about Australian Politics), or "Down with this ship".

This is one of my favorite songs... ever.

I think the train is the train of thought and the suited guy is himself. He tries to forget himself by destroying the conducter and he feels confused. But the thoughts returns again and the battle continues. All his songs are philosophical truths and talk about emotions

For me, it’s about addiction, it’s only in your mind, it only affects you, don’t worry, you’re in denial. And in the end, you just repeat yourself again. (That’s barely scraping the surface of how much evidence there is to back up this theory)

Gotye (or whatever his real name is) is much more than just a music artist, he is also very creative, and unique, i wonder where he is right now, i would love to hear more of this. This music is weird, catchy, and too good. I have been listening to gotye for around 3-4 years.

Every time I spin making mirrors on my turntable its impossible for me not to end it with this song on the flip side of the "easy way out" 7", this is the most wicked bonus track and visual.

this video gave me nightmares when i first saw it as a kid, absolute classic

Damn this song and video really connected to me in a way I wasn't expecting. Destructive behaviours and bad habits can feel like an out of control train you're on and can't stop sometimes and the shame you feel from doing the same stupid things repeatedly can be so crushing. It's so great to see this specific state of mind portrayed in a beautiful song.

Goddamit Steve you gotta stop showing up at the station without any of the passengers. I don't care how many giant heads you see I think I might have to fire you for this.

@@qazhr honestly he did... even though "Somebody that i used to know" is amazing... i think there are songs that are well better and probably songs that would run perhaps better if they cought on in the time.

I love this album so fvcking much. It's one of those rare albums where you'd listen to the whole thing without skipping a song or two. This album is timeless.

Gotye's songs help me relax. They're music has real raw emotion, and that's the only way music should be.

I like that. I also think it is talking of how he doesn't want to solve the problem because he doesn't know how to and he just keeps on trying to make it go away without making any sacrifices or hard decisions and he eventually powers through to arrive at the station.
