Great video and great looking tractor. Check the plug in connections on the back side of the pto switch to make sure there is no corrosion first and then work your way to the clutch

That’s what I was thinking too. But I did check the PTO switch and if I turn it on then the engine will not start so I believe the switch is operating correctly and the wires to the switch or operating correctly the next thing I’m gonna look at is any connections between the switch and the clutch and then the actual clutch itself. But thank you for the information, that’s good stuff

Hi! Can you mesure the width of the inside of the hood, where the hood close on the dash? That would help me so much in my homemade tractor creation, but I need to know the mesure I think this hood would fit on mine.

Dan, Just to let you know, if the clutch is a bit worn, causing it not to engage, there are 3 access holes around the Perimeter of the Clutch that are adjustable. This is called the "Air Gap". Typical gap is between 0.010-0.015 depending on Manufacturer Specifications. That is, if it's not a Faulty Switch! Thanks for sharing Dan! Take care, -Thomas 🤓 Skagen Port Orchard, Washington

Check the clutch gap. On my 2000 Simplicty, the clutch gap got to big after 14 years and the clutch wouldnt work at all. I adjusted the gap to spec and it works every time with no problem now. Its easy to do and best of all, its free to do.

That sounds just like that video I posted a couple years ago doing the free air gap on the air-conditioner clutch gap on my Ford explore. It was the same exact thing if the gap is too big it would not engage. That’s good information, thank you

I checked the gap, it was way too much, put in a half turn on each of the 3 nuts and whammy!!! Works like a champ!! Thanks buddy, I owe ya a beer or 3 if you ever come to Savannah

I have the same cub cadet, besides mine doesn't have a deck. I got mine for $130. They like to creep forward or backward.

It looks like my 1993 1330. My PTO just went for the first time after 30 years of use.

Wow!

I think that mower was manufactured April 13th 1982 or 1987 Dan(can't remember their code). There's a chart somewhere that tells you how to decipher the MFG Date from the tag on the engine, and there's a tag on the rear axle or on the frame behind the rear wheel somewhere.

I show a tag on the mower. It's on the left side of the frame. Is that what I should be looking for?

@@DansVlog Some of them have a tag on the frame, some have one on the bottom of the seat.

What did you do with the red craftsman mower?

It's from 1992 according to the serial number on the engine, (i'm an authorized Briggs & Kohler dealer)now the mower could have been made in 1993 which is highly likey because it is not uncommon to see an engine that is a year older than the mower, also Kohler never did make a 12.5hp engine, it's actually a 15hp. And Cub-Cadet is just a name, it's nothing more but a fancy MTD - the same company who makes Troy-Bilt & Yard-Machines.

Not lawn related Dan, but what's with all the office chair boxes? Lol, keep up the good videos.

My friend from work is seperated from his wife and I am storing some things for him. He got boxes at local stores to fill up hi stuff

Check there is not a dead man switch on the seat that's not working as it should. I had a husky with that issue

Yeah, the operator presence switch on the seat does work. If you have the brake not in the locked position and get off the machine it turns off the engine. Also if the PTO switch is in the on position it will not let me start the engine so that tells me the switch is fine and the dead man or operator presence switch on the seat is fine but thank you for the information
