I've had Gossamer poles before. They broke on me twice on my hikes. Not durable enough to rely on.

I’ve heard that from other videos. I’m willing to take a chance on them. I can always go back to. My trusty aluminum black Diamond trekking poles that have done the JMT/HST/Smokies and a bunch more. Carbon is a brittle material compared to aluminum. I wonder how much breakage of carbon poles is related to “bruising” of the fibers. I’ve seen that in fishing rods and fly rods made from various carbon composites.

@@juanbackpacks I was hiking on a rocky section of the JMT. Planted the pole it got stuck between rocks and snapped. I was glad I didn’t have to rely on them for a tent set up. Cost $50.00 for the replacement part
