The zookeeper in charge of Momotaro prepared Momotaro's birthday cake from start to finish.
I was expecting how happy Momotaro would be with his birthday cake, but he was surprisingly cool about it.
It was more interesting that the sons, Gentaro and Kintaro, seemed to want their father's birthday cake.

Father MOMOTARO ♂(2000/7/3)
He is hesitant in new situations and is a loner.
His father died before he was born, and he had never spent time with a silverback.
He had already turned into a silverback by the time he was 10 years old.
He is struggling with unfamiliar child-rearing.
MOMOTARO's father is BIJU.
MOMOTARO's mother is MOMOKO.
Mother GENKI ♀ (1986/6/24)
She is 14 years older than Momotaro and has a role to support the whole family mentally.
She has had a tumultuous and eventful life.
She has returned to her birthplace, Kyoto City Zoo.
She had never been blessed with a baby but after meeting Momotaro,
she had two sons.
She is a very maternal female gorilla.
GENKI's father is MAC.
GENKI's mother is HIROMI.
First son GENTARO, male (2011/12/21)
He was separated from his mother Genki soon after he was born.
Genki's milk production was not very good.
He was raised by his keeper for his first10 months.
Because of this, he is very fond of humans.
His face is so expressive, and everyone enjoys watching him.
Second son KINTARO ♂ (2018/12/19)
He is just very strong-willed and independent.
He has big eyes and long eyebrows.
The way he plays a lot with his brother Gentaro makes everyone smile.
We can't wait to see what kind of gorilla he'll become!

Happy Birthday, Momo! I wanted to watch Momo eat his entire birthday treat. He looked like he was enjoying it.
Momotaro was methodical in eating his birthday cake. I love how he left the Happy Birthday behind, but eventually ate his favorite carrots.
You can sure tell what Momo likes best! Really a nice job done by his keeper! That was hard work cutting all those fruits and veggies into letters!! As a fan l appreciate her work and talent! Momo love it and that's what counts!! Cute at the end of Kiiny sneeking in! He is brave! Thank you for filming , great job! Appreciate you!

It was interesting to see how Momentaro ate his birthday salad. He ate all the fruit first and started at the bottom working his way to the top. I'd say he enjoyed it 😊❤🦍

I am inspired to provide for gorillas in the wild and in zoos when I get rich, also. I have already added them to my list! I wish this Zoo in Kyoto appreciated the audience this family has and made a way for us to send gifts. An English website would be wonderful!
Momo was gentle and precise with his food, picking up his obvious favourite watermelon first, slowly piece by piece and he got to eat it all unlike Genki, I think this was a great idea. I think was a great idea keeping the birthday gorilla separate so they can eat their fruit cake. Happy 22nd Birthday Momotaro you beautiful handsome gorilla ❤❤❤❤

It was lovely, and he ate neatly and didn’t mess it up. But the others should also have been given treats, and they should all have fruit every day. Miss Hina probably bought the pineapple and watermelon with her own money.

How thoughtful and loving of that zookeeper to go above and beyond for the Momotoro gorilla family! She is such a sweetheart! She makes them fruit ice pops in summer to help them stay cool! I just found this channel. I subscribed to few other ones that cover this zoo and Momotoro family. Maybe the same person doing few channels, but I enjoy them! Thank you for all your love and effort with the Momotoro family❤❤❤❤

Lovely cake!🎂Fun watching the zookeeper artfully design it and Momo methodically eat it-watermelon and pineapple first! I was surprised he left the grapes, Genki‘s favorites, though I guess she doesn‘t get the load of other fruits that would further damage her teeth. Wow, that was some cake. I knew Momo would start with the good stuff then the grass. He looked so relaxed and content with the food cake the zookeeper made. The keeper must understand English because they carved Happy birthday Momotaro in English. This was an awesome video which I really enjoyed. I only wish Kintaro could have gotten a carrot or two. Oh well he got to eat some of the cabbage and lettuce on the walls and shelves. Happy 23rd birthday gorgeous Momo, and many more. 💖

That was fun! I expected the keepers to sing Happy birthday to him-(at Benihana's restaurants we go for Birthdays) and they sing it in Japanese, it's so cool!

Hello. I am Japanese. 😊 The keepers cut the vegetables and make messages. It's easier to make "HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOMOTARO" in English than "たんじょうびおめでとう ももたろう" in Japanese. 👍✨ Also, the English word "Happy Birthday" is often used in Japan. 😄 Almost all Japanese people probably know the English word "Happy Birthday" (even children). This is because Japanese people sing the song "Happy Birthday to You～♪" on their birthdays, just like everyone overseas. 😉 Native English speakers may think that the pronunciation is different, but for us Japanese, this song is a standard birthday song.☺🎂

@@wisebarb1987 Thank you for your reply. ☺ The first English word I learned might be "Happy Birthday." 😁 It was my daughter's birthday two days ago, so I put nine candles on the cake and sang "Happy Birthday to You～♪" with family. After singing, my daughter gleefully blows out the candles. 😚🎂 In Japan, we say "Merry Christmas" on Christmas Day. 🎅 On Halloween, my daughter dresses up and says "Trick or Treat"in English and gets candy.🎃 The culture that came from overseas is also enjoyed in Japan.😄

人参は飼育員曰く、普段から食べてるので、残したのでしょうと。笑 動物園が閉まってからの5時台でも人参はまだ残っていたそうです。

I agree with you that they need fruit. But they have said that that’s why Mama Genki’s teeth are in such bad shape, personally I wouldn’t think it would do that, but I’m not a professional, it’s JMO. Cucumbers & tomatoes, eggplant stuff like that doesn’t have sugars. You know they would love that, even broccoli..that stuff would boast their immune system, pineapple would be excellent for inflammation. ❤️🦍❤️😊

@@PraiseHIMthroughthestorm I know that’s what is claimed, but I don’t believe it. What made me suspicious was how they only give them the ends of carrots. It’s restaurant trash. All the great ape sanctuaries provide tons of different fruits and vegetables every day.

How nice of the keepers to make Birthday cake for Momo. He's been in a bad , depressed mood for some time and I'm sure he knows the Zoo keepers did all of this for him, making Momo feel loved! The door was opened after awhile. Kintaro is the only one Momomentaro would have let in because he is still young. Not to say he would let Kintaro eat everything just a little lol.

Only Kintaro is not severely scolded by Momotaro since he has baby signal. Additionally Momotaro finished eating up most of the birthday cake. Just veggies remained.

They do that. I don't know how long time back, but quite a few years back! I remember seeing an old video of Momo' from when he was turning one year old, at Ueno zoo, he had a birthday cake with real whipped creme and also veggies and fruit I think. Of course Momoko ate most of that "cake" but Momo' had creme all over his face, and he looks so surprised of the nice taste and texture! :)
