And here, ladies and gentlemen, we have a person who knows what he is talking about, no prejudice, no fancy words, just a simple guy that possesses knowledge and is passionate about it. Learn from his example.

Loved the excitement in Luc when you asked how classical and metal can work together. "Cause music is music!" Right on the money, Luc! Love this dude so much!

Love that part, when he compares notes to words in a story it's a perfect analogy.
we want raw & uncut & uncut. i could listen to him for hours.
One of the nicest and most intelligent guys in metal, much respect and Gorguts is a fantastic band
I enjoy listening to Luc Lemay talk...so articulate, conscious, and genuinely humble.
WOW!! This interview was phenomenal. I love his take on death metal.
5:51, every band should hear this! Especially the ones venturing themselves in this new prog/tech/atmospheric Death Metal wave.
I knew Luc when he was studying viola at Vincent d'Indy music school in Outremont. What a great and intelligent guy. I made him discovered King Crimson that he diged right away.

That's awesome, King Crimson is an amazing band as well
Luc Lemay. Enough said. Everything he plays on is musical gold to my eardrums
Met Luc on the Obscura tour. He gave me the setlist, signed it and drew some skulls on it while we talked. Class act, amazing musician.
Luc Lemay is like the uncle I wish I could have in my family. Love the man and the music
A very down to earth guy with a ton of musical knowledge.
Chuck's spirit of how music is a language with stories to tell lives on in Luc Lemay.
Man, I never knew he had an accent! When I met him, Mayhem was playing so loud we had to lip read to know what we were saying to each other! He was super nice, and he was running the merch booth after their set!
Luc Lemay Forever you're the unsung hero from death metal
Such a intelligent, sweet, humble man.Gorguts has always put out nothing but absolute pure masterpiece metal and Negativa is an absolute must listen as well.
I like the fact that a lot of the members from brutal metal bands are actually very kind and down to earth persons.
Damn that was like the most inspiring lecture about music I've ever heard and it was unrehearsed. You really have to lock onto a topic you know inside and out and love with all your soul, to speak this fluently and persuasively

I have tremendous respect for Luc. Gorguts is great, very good and influential stuff throughout the years. Thanks for the video!
Luc is awesome. Gorguts are my favourite Technical Death Metal band of all time. Obscura is an all time classic that forever remains ahead of it's time.
This and the Devin Townsend interviews are the best I've seen so far. I could listen to those guys talk for days!
Man, you should do a longer interview with this genius. He's great!
Never heard Gorguts before. This guy is very insightful. I'm about to listen to Obscura.

A true legend. Count yourselves lucky to be born in a generation where we can listen to Luc Lemay's music.
Had a fascination for gorguts and Lemay forever. this was an absolute delight. Thanks for that
I could listen to him talk about music all day! His passion for music and knowledge of music is contagious! Love Luc!! He is the best!!
I met Luc after a show on the Colored Sands tour in Ottawa. He was humble and super nice...literally gave off an aura that you just wanted to be around. He thanked ME for being at the show and I was just like 😮
I can't wait for the new Gorguts album!
Luc is a mastermind. Grew up on Gorguts and it's very interesting to see how the project has progressed over the years. He's also one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. A true Canadian treasure!
I've met Luc a couple of times. Really nice dude. I love that he said music is music.

"You can do whatever you want in this style! That's what I like." Spot on. Luc Lemay is a true musician from head to toe!
Just getting into Gorguts and already loving them. Big fan of this interviewer too.
Great interview, great job, thnx for this! Luc Lemay is an interesting guy!
Luc has such a beautiful attitude toward music. I absolutely love it.
Excellent interview! Great insight!
excellent interview i echo the words of all the others here..very intelligent passionate and humble dude. sooo many sound bytes in this
This channel fives me life! Hope to see 1M subs soon.
I can listen to this guy for an hour. I just discovered Gorguts today
i really appreciate metal alot more because of the people who make music and are also intelligent
Awesome interview! I really appreciate his point of view
And I'm here studying viola and listening to Gorguts religiously .. Je suis au anges.
Sort of reminds me of... Does anyone remember MetalKult? The metal site Guitar World used to run? Well when they did their interviews with Ihsahn, people were allowed to send in questions and they took one from me that was basically asking how is it that the tremelo picking that defines the Black Metal sound blends so well with classical influences. Also, side note: Man, would I love to see a Metal Evolution minisode about Canadian death metal! More stuff with Luc, and interview with Arie from Quo Vadis (especially would like to know why when so many other melodic death metal bands have chased the Gothenburg sound, QV seemed to follow more the 'Heartwork' era Carcass sound), some stuff with Lord Worm about the early days of Cryptopsy, 'None So Vile', and leaving and coming back and leaving the band again, a confrontation with Flo about the change in Cryptopsy's sound into more of a (personally I feel rather weak and trend-chasing version when compared to genre mainstays like All Shall Perish or Carnifex) deathcore sound, and a career overview of Strapping Young Lad and their contributions to the Industrial Death Metal sound.
Hands down!!! Living legend!!! Genius!!!
I just recently got into gorguts. Wow. It has been a revelation and has led me into a new appreciation for metal as whole, especially death metal
Amazing guy, great interview!
Damn, I'd love to sit and chat with this dude about metal and composition and melody.
just met luc last night, he is the nicest person around , usually when you ask someone how they are they just answer and move on but he looked me straight in the eyes and genuinely asked how i am today, then had no issue taking photos with me and even signed colored sands album for me. such a legend and so humble for being a damn genius

I also got to meet him last and he signed my Pleiades’ Dust record. Such a kind, humble dude who is clearly passionate about what he does. A friend of mine ran into him earlier in the day - he was grocery shopping for all the bands on the tour. Even while running that errand he took the time to talk to my friend for a little while. Great guy.
A music genius and yet, so humble...
Great interview
I got goosebumps everytime Luc opened his mouth in this interview.... I have the same thoughts about what music is..
"Power Slave" a favorite of mine too! Quite possibly Maiden's heaviest track IMO! 🤘Later Gorguts threw me fir a loop but grew on me iver the years, all great but a return to the old school sound would be amazing!
Legendary band. Legendary man.
great interview .\,,/
Fuck yeah. I’m only 23 and I still jam to Considered Dead & Erosion of Sanity on the regular. Considered Dead is one of my fav albums. His tunes are living on thru the gens!! \m/

Love Luc Lemay. His classical guitar playing is what drew me to Gorguts.
I love that the most badass people in metal also tend to be the most down to earth. I don't see how anyone can hate Luc.
Gorguts fan since 1991. Cassettes too!
Legend!
FANTASTIC!
Why this is so short? I can listen this guy for hours. Hes aproach about extreme metal music is amaizing.

Super cool guy. I remember *lightly* partying with these guys back in the 90's.
Damn! Larry LaLonde influenced another of my guitar heroes. I didn't know that.
Excellent! real smart guy!
True pioneer
i love this man
Homie calling erosion of sanity “edge of sanity” and luc calling 1984 by Van Halen “1994” - what was in the air that day
What a humble man! Comes from the same province as me lol

Got to meet luc lemay , very nice guy. Gorguts ftw
I LOVE.... his finger quotations marks.
Interesting point of view
This "excerpt" was far too short, is there a full interview coming? Cause I really wanted to hear more of his thoughts, brilliant fucking dude.
Seven Churches...Scream Bloody Gore...Amadeus... Love it!
God I love Luc..too cool.
ha. I was just listening to their first album today. I was what 19 or so when it came out?
3:21 "gonna put my leg... okay no nevermind"
Luc is the man!
The Erosion of Sanity on cassette Sam! Edge of Sanity is a band I have actually never listened to.
I just saw Gorguts last night for the first time opening up for cannibal corpse. Luc himself sold me a considered dead shirt. He’s also incredibly nice.
Absolute Wizard!
Love how Sam calls Erosion the "Edge" of Sanity, and Luc calls 1984, 1994. I'm sure they just had a brain fart, happens to me way too often... I once called Destruction's second album "Eternal Nightmare".
LOVELY, great guy with pure passion for music. But if I may add, black metal mixes well in pretty much every other non-metal genre too.
I have the EXACT same mentality Luc Lamey had throughout his life when approaching music, I can really relate to how he expresses things throughout this video. Too bad he never liked Maiden's Seventh Son
you guys should interview Morean of Dark Fortress and Alkaloid
let us watch the full version of this, si vous plait.
Sam wearing that Monotheist T-shirt makes me happy.
