We did this as a big family cook up to kick off our bbq and we really, really loved it! The flavours together were simply amazing; so simple, but so very good. We followed the directions exactly, (without burning down our house even). Thanks Gordon, for this and all your lovely recipes from the humble 4.5 minute boiled egg, the great creamy scrambled egg and salmon to the more exotic dishes; all of them turning out pretty much perfect by following your directions.

I'm glad he clarified that we should literally put the asparagus in the jar. Otherwise I might have thought he was speaking figuratively.

That looks amazing... I love shrimp, i love the idea of pickled asparagus and at the risk of sounding easily pleased.. i could literally see the textured crunch of the french toast... perfect.

As a cajun I appreciate the respect he gives to different cuisines. This isn't how my family would make it (Old bay??) but the essence is definitely there and a respect for the shrimp. If I had one complaint, that bun is a sad excuse for a french roll, but hey its a pandemic & the rest of it looks amazing.
